Bottom Six Minutes: Arber Xhekaj, the new sheriff in town (Habs Eyes on the Prize)

The Sheriff loomed as an imposing figure over the Habs' big win on Thursday night, in more ways than one.

He is going to make it very tough for Martin St-Louis to take him out of the lineup, even once the blue line is at full strength again. We’ll have ourselves a nice Friday off, and be back after this Saturday’s game against the The propensity for violence is simply a secondary benefit, coming from a player who is already very effective as a bottom-pair defender at just 21 years of age. specifically, the one where [Zack Kassian ran over Samuel Montembeault](https://www.habseyesontheprize.com/2022/1/30/22908349/zack-kassian-hit-samuel-montembeault-video-canadiens-reaction-habs-jeff-petry-pezzetta-oilers), and not one player on the Montreal side was willing to do something about it? Slafkovsky took a high hit from Josh Brown just before scoring that goal, and Xhekaj went right at Brown to let him know he wasn’t pleased. Montreal Canadiens: Jordan Harris climbing the depth chart (A Winning Habit)

The Montreal Canadiens are getting plenty out of their young, inexperienced defense core to start off the 2022-23 season. With players like Kaiden Guhle ...

His performance to this point has allowed Harris to jump up to the second pairing. The solid performance early on has been great, but there is still room to keep improving. He has one on the year but has been pretty fluent overall. He has continued to get better as the season has gone on early on in 2022-23 for the Canadiens. For Harris, he has played in all four games to this point, picking up an assist along the way. The Massachusetts-born defender gets pucks on net and finds ways to create scoring chances.

But Xhekaj mostly brings some great physical presence to the Canadiens, and last night, he got into his first NHL fight. Xhekaj answered that question after the game. Xhekaj didn’t seem to have any problems dealing with the Arizona Coyotes tough guy, despite him being one of the toughest guys in the league. He chirped opponents and didn’t care a bit that they were star players in the league. Xhekaj has had a great start to the season, and in five games, he’s had one assist. The story of Arber Xhekaj is nothing but amazing.

“There’s a lot of pressure for an 18-year-old, first overall pick, to play here in Montreal and the fans made a nice gesture to encourage the kid scoring his first goal. “That’s the beauty of the game. Suzuki was given a penalty shot when he was tripped by Juuso Valimaki while Montreal was short-handed. “I’m happy for the kid,” Canadiens coach Martin St. To score my first goal in this building, it’s a dream come true for sure,” he said. “I think nothing better could happen after a first NHL goal than what happened out there.”

Rebuilding Canadiens Suffer Minor Setback in Coyotes Win (The Hockey Writers)

Just about everything went right for the Montreal Canadiens in their 6-2 victory over the Arizona Coyotes on Oct. 20. That's the point.

He currently writes about all things Habs for THW, with it being a career highlight for him to have covered the 2021 Stanley Cup Final as a credentialed member of the press. Ultimately, a win over the Coyotes is nothing to celebrate. Secondly, the Canadiens don’t need to finish last again for a shot at Bedard. It certainly doesn’t change because the Canadiens dominated a Coyotes team ripe for the picking. Simply put, the Canadiens are not a playoff-caliber team based on their The Canadiens then proceeded to lose nine of their next 13 games en route to a league-worst 22-49-11 record and an For a good period of time, just about everything went right for the Montreal Canadiens in their 6-2 victory over the Arizona Coyotes on Oct. It’s just one game after all, similar to the one the Canadiens played on Oct. However, they can still find solace in how a) things likely won’t go their way to that degree ever again and b) the Canadiens still somewhat let the Coyotes back into the game after leading 5-0 at one point, dominating every which at the very start of the game. All anyone can say definitively is this Canadiens teams is playing better than last year’s, which is an admittedly low bar to reach. Firstly, considering the 21 in the league with 14 through five games.
