Xhekaj is starting to make quite a name for himself in the NHL. There’s a little history between Kassian and the Canadiens. Kassian quickly reacted to the unreasonable amount of pain sent his way, but couldn’t escape the Xhekaj barrage, which then shifted to body shots.

Bottom Six Minutes: Arber Xhekaj, the new sheriff in town (Habs Eyes on the Prize)

The Sheriff loomed as an imposing figure over the Habs' big win on Thursday night, in more ways than one.

He is going to make it very tough for Martin St-Louis to take him out of the lineup, even once the blue line is at full strength again. We’ll have ourselves a nice Friday off, and be back after this Saturday’s game against the The propensity for violence is simply a secondary benefit, coming from a player who is already very effective as a bottom-pair defender at just 21 years of age. specifically, the one where [Zack Kassian ran over Samuel Montembeault](https://www.habseyesontheprize.com/2022/1/30/22908349/zack-kassian-hit-samuel-montembeault-video-canadiens-reaction-habs-jeff-petry-pezzetta-oilers), and not one player on the Montreal side was willing to do something about it? Slafkovsky took a high hit from Josh Brown just before scoring that goal, and Xhekaj went right at Brown to let him know he wasn’t pleased. Love this kid and the energy he brings on the ice and in the dressing room. Now he's playing for the Montreal Canadiens and beating the wheels off of veterans at center ice of the Bell Centre. The 21 year old free agent signing cracked the Habs' roster in training camp this pre-season and has not looked out of place for a moment in the team's first four regular season games.

“We got a few good bounces, we forced the team to turn pucks over, we played on top of them, which I felt we really did against Pit, and we were opportunistic with our chances… And individually, producing has got to be part of the process, too.” A lot of work went into the Canadiens winning their first two games of this week to get to 3-2-0 on their season. Winning’s got to be part of the process, too. Louis said he wanted to see them replicate the process that led to that win. “It’s the National Hockey League,” said Brendan Gallagher, who notched his first goal of the year to put the Canadiens up 3-0.

Arizona Coyotes give up three early goals, fall 6-2 to Canadiens (Five for Howling)

The Arizona Coyotes fell behind early and failed in their third period comeback attempt.

Head Coach André Tourigny decided to pull Ingram with over four minutes left, a reasonable gamble given the score. The Coyotes looked like they had been trending up, but a sloppy power play saw a turnover and a Nick Suzuki breakaway. Early in the third period, the Coyotes finally started getting some good offensive zone time. But, unfortunately, getting a late power play would be the worst thing that could happen for the Desert Dogs. Arizona would start to play better in the second, but it was not enough. But Xhekaj mostly brings some great physical presence to the Canadiens, and last night, he got into his first NHL fight. Xhekaj answered that question after the game. Xhekaj didn’t seem to have any problems dealing with the Arizona Coyotes tough guy, despite him being one of the toughest guys in the league. He chirped opponents and didn’t care a bit that they were star players in the league. Xhekaj has had a great start to the season, and in five games, he’s had one assist. The story of Arber Xhekaj is nothing but amazing.
