3 takeaways from the Bruins' statement win over the Panthers (Boston.com)

“I didn’t see the hit but obviously they were trying to get after Nosek,” Montgomery said. With their noticeably greater physical presence, the Bruins have stuck together amid heated on-ice moments during the first three games of the Montgomery era. In fact, Montgomery went back to the original plans for Boston’s top six. In his first complete game of the season, DeBrusk collected a goal and an assist, showcasing his high-end speed on both plays. Taylor Hall was skating alongside Patrice Bergeron and Jake DeBrusk to start the night. The Bruins added some snarl following the emergence of bottom-six cogs like A.J. “I think the biggest thing for myself is confidence,” DeBrusk said. More often than not, Matthew Tkachuk’s skilled and edgy brand of hockey will usually provide a certain degree of tension whenever he touches the ice. “We weren’t skating,” Montgomery said regarding the Hall-Zacha adjustment. “I thought we didn’t have our A-game,” head coach Jim Montgomery said following the win. I was like, it’s going to get worse or whatever…I surprised pretty much all the boys.” As is usually the case, David Pastrnak eventually found himself figuring in on the offense.

Four Big Takeaways From Bruins' Exciting Win Vs. Panthers (NESN.com)

The Bruins starting the season 3-0-0 is surprising given they are without three players in Brad Marchand, Matt Grzelcyk and Charlie McAvoy.

“Obviously, the big guys out and things like that, we need everybody hands on deck, and I just want to be part of that.” Greer](https://nesn.com/2022/10/a-j-greers-passionate-play-making-him-an-early-bruins-fan-favorite/), Pastrnak playing on the second line with David Krejci, and the defense even stepping in with some offense. Ullmark also had a stellar save on Aaron Ekblad in the beginning of the game on a five-on-three. “I read him perfectly for that one and we capitalized on the next one.” His confidence is evident and was an impact player against the Panthers. DeBrusk told reporters that last season “freed” him and it’s clear whatever monkey that was on his back last year isn’t there any longer. They [beat the Florida Panthers](https://nesn.com/2022/10/bruins-wrap-bostons-early-dominance-helps-avoid-late-collapse/) — one of the top two teams [to win the division](https://nesn.com/2022/09/atlantic-division-preview-outlook-predictions-for-2022-23-nhl-season/) at the start of the year — 5-3 at TD Garden on Monday. Ullmark shined in his second start for the B’s with 38 saves on 41 shots. The goalie stood on his head and robbed Reinhart in the second period with the game tied at 1-1. If you watched Monday’s game, you probably saw a mix of different line combinations on the ice. And even though the Bruins nearly let them come back, their “ [pack of wolves](https://nesn.com/2022/10/bruins-notes-bostons-pack-of-wolves-mentality-helps-fuel-win/)” mentality helped Boston hand the Panthers their first loss of the season. Boston Bruins DraftKings NHL Fantasy Hockey Preview: October 18 ... (DraftKings Nation)

Geoff Ulrich previews the Bruins' upcoming fantasy hockey matchups.

Although I have expressed my personal view on the games and strategies above, they do not necessarily reflect the view(s) of DraftKings and do not constitute a representation that any particular strategy will guarantee success. The Ducks were 0-2 to start their Eastern road trip as of writing and were outscored 13-5 in those two games, allowing a hat trick and nine shots on net to the Rangers’ Mika Zibanejad on Monday. Fleury is very familiar with the Bruins from his days in Pittsburgh but the Wild will likely need to score a bundle in this one just to keep up. And when the contest is all over, you can play with a brand-new team. I am a promoter at DraftKings and am also an avid fan and user (my username is wavegoodbye) and may sometimes play on my personal account in the games that I offer advice on. This is a spot for Pastrnak to potentially break away in the team goal-scoring lead. Draft your lineup of eight skaters and a goalie while staying within the salary cap. Pavel Zacha stepped up and grabbed three points and his first goal as a Bruin in the win. Ottawa was the darling sleeper pick of many analysts to make some noise in the Eastern Conference but has just three goals to show on the season through two games. This was all done while missing multiple key players in the form of Brad Marchand and Charlie McAvoy, so to say that Bruins fans should be happy is an understatement. The big guns delivered for Boston again against Florida as both Bergeron and Pastrnak scored goals. Linus Ullmark grabbed the win and made 33 saves on 35 shots faced.

Recap: Depleted Panthers fall 5-3 to undefeated Bruins in road trip ... (Litter Box Cats)

The Florida Panthers lost its first game under new head coach Paul Maurice, dropping a hard-fought 5-3 decision to the Boston Bruins at TD Garden.

- Rudolfs Balcers secondary assist on Sam Bennett’s goal was his first point in a Panthers kit. The Cats will host the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday. Bergeron and Connor Clifton drew the helpers on Pasta’s second helping of the season. Greer and wrapped the puck in from underneath the goal line. - With Brandon Montour and then Aaron Ekblad out, Gustav Forsling stepped up his game. The puck sailed past the defenseman and DeBrusk outraced him to take possession and fended off Forsling before sending a backhand pass over to Bergeron, who finished on the backhand. Florida drew even 4:32 into the middle frame on Sam Bennett’s first of the season. Clifton picked up a second secondary assist on another shot that Bobrovsky should’ve stopped. The Cats first line has been disappointing. The outmanned Panthers gave a gritty effort, pelting Ullmark with 41 shots, but playing from behind for most of the game and a wonky 0 for 4 effort on the power play helped do them in. That said, the Panthers went 2-1 on the road trip which is a result you’ll always take. Another self-inflicted wound helped Boston regain the lead 8:03 later.

Game 4: Boston Bruins @ Ottawa Senators Lines, Preview (Boston Hockey Now)

The Boston Bruins could be walking into a hornet's nest tonight in Ottawa when they play the new-look Senators in their home opener Tuesday.

[Ottawa Senators](https://www.nhl.com/senators) and it’s expected to be their first sellout crowd in five years. He has allowed five goals on 61 shots so far and took the loss in the Senators’ first two games. -The Senators will have plenty of new faces in the lineup since the last time they faced the Boston Bruins. Greer (2), David Krejci, Nick Foligno, Pavel Zacha, Charlie Coyle, Hampus Lindholm, Trent Frederic, Derek Forbort and Taylor Hall have all lit the lamp. He’s a good coach and he’s going to have them ready to go. When asked about the danger of playing another preseason darling but so far, underwhelming Senators squad on the tail end of a back-to-back, Montgomery didn’t hold back.

- The Bruins, on the other hand, are having the exact opposite of a terrible start. That the Bruins put up five goals on a team many picked to challenge for the Atlantic’s top spot is another encouraging sign about the potency of the forward corps. When you consider that, plus the fact that a bunch of new guys need to learn how to play together, maybe it’s too soon for Sens fans to be grumbling. The Sens’ strength was supposed to be offense, with an influx of talent up front, but they’ve managed just three goals in two games. Seven goals against in two games. Defense was expected to be an issue, and...yeah.

Could the 2022-2023 season be the last chance at a Stanley Cup for this Boston Bruins team? Some might be surprised at the answer!

The Bruins already are fighting for playoff spots the last few seasons. But these are realities that Don Sweeney and the Bruins management team will have to consider carefully. Game 3 Preview + Open Thread: Bruins @ Senators (Silver Seven)

The Ottawa Senators are set for their season opener as they welcome the Boston Bruins to the Canadian Tire Centre tonight.

- DJ Smith mentioned that he liked what he saw from Thomas Chabot and Erik Brännström in a small sample on Saturday but has kept Chabot with Artem Zub at morning skate. Look for him to have a bounce back game - which for a player like Holden basically means he’ll do his best not to be noticed at all. Alex DeBrincat will be eager to finally secure his first regular season goal as a Senator, as he had a number of chances against Toronto on Saturday night. While he doesn’t yet have a win to his name this season, he’s been arguably one of Ottawa’s most stable players through two games, posting a fantastic 0.924 SV%. Ahead of their season opener, the city of Ottawa is buzzing with excitement. What’s most important tonight, however, is what happens on the ice.
