Mešár was in the lineup last night and did not look out of pace, or place, in the overtime loss to the Belleville Senators, a game in which Mešár had no points. He will now follow a similar development plan as Jan Myšák. Initially, Mešár has pushed for a move to the pro leagues in Europe or to stay in the AHL with the Laval Rocket.

The Montreal Canadiens have loaned Filip Mesar to the OHL's Kitchener Rangers for the season to continue to develop his offensive game.

He would then be able to join the Laval Rocket in the tail-end of their season and into another potential playoff run. Having been a last-minute cut from Laval, the chances that he could stick around next year would be even higher, and could prompt the Rangers to try and get the best value for their import selection possible. For Mesar, this presents an interesting opportunity, as the Rangers are currently 0-5-0 in their first five games, but have recently added 2022 OHL champion Marco Constantini in nets from the Hamilton Bulldogs.

The Montreal Canadiens have chosen to send down Filip Mesar to the OHL after just one AHL game and it is the right decision.

He was sent to the Kitchener Rangers where he will play an enormous role in a strong Junior league. His development will grow exponentially if he is putting up incredible numbers in a Junior league, as compared to sitting on the end of the bench for long periods in the pro league. However, he was playing on the fourth line and was moved to right wing as well. He continued to show off some skill, and was put in the lineup on opening night. Mesar did play well in the preseason, with his pro experience shining through as he Filip Mesar was taken with the 26th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft.
