It's uncertain who it is, but the clip definitely plays up the idea that it's someone from Chief Boden's crew. It's a big reason why they have been effective as a team. Hawkins is gone, and we're devastated. Fortunately, actor Jimmy Nicholas took to social media to share some kind words with fans.

In truth, this could be the most devastating death that fans have had to deal with since Otis (Yuri Sardarov). There’s been an outpouring of support for Hawkins as a character and a romantic partner for Violet. Weeks after Hawkins and Violet were able to make their relationship public, the former dies trying to save a victim from a burning building.

Chicago Fire Killing [SPOILER] Is a Decision Season 11 Will Regret (CBR)

Chicago Fire Season 11 kills off another character, but this last-minute death should be considered one of the NBC show's rare mistakes.

To have the audience reinvest in Violet and Hawkins' relationship in "Hold On Tight" only to get rid of Hawkins two weeks later was harsh on the fans. Audiences do have to care about characters for life-threatening situations like the ones on Chicago Fire to have any meaning. A man stumbled out of the stage door so Hawkins rushed to help him -- and Chicago Fire dropped the facade of the building on them both. Hawkins could have contributed so much more to Chicago Fire if he'd stayed alive. If the series is paving the way for Gallo to return to Violet, viewers will be skeptical of caring about them again when they've seen how Violet and Hawkins fared. Giving the duo a milestone moment and then Hawkins a rushed death is the kind of awkward writing this series normally doesn't do. Then after the collapse, Chicago Fire ended with the expected moment of a sobbing Violet being the last person to work on her boyfriend before being literally pulled away. Hawkins and Violet said "I love you" for the first time on-screen. But to kill Paramedic Field Chief Evan Hawkins in the closing five minutes of Season 11, Episode 3, "Completely Shattered" was a frustrating decision that will affect the rest of the season -- and not in any good way. Brett brought Violet to a surprise lunch with Hawkins so the couple could get in some extra quality time. Therein lies the problem, because Hawkins was just well-developed enough for Chicago Fire to yank the rug out from under fans by killing him for all too typical reasons. That's because seemingly out of nowhere, the series killed Hawkins instead.

It was a rough night overall for fans of the One Chicago dramas. But Hawkins rushed back to the theater to help someone struggling, and a part of the building collapsed. The harrowing episode made plenty of fans (including myself) think that everyone had made it to safety. Jimmy Nicholas had been a part of the series since Chicago Fire Season 10, and Evan blossomed into one of the best characters.
