Ottawa police said the allegations were made by a woman in relation to incidents that allegedly took place in 2013 and 2014.

Meredith’s former employees after another ethics investigation found a pattern of inappropriate behaviour by the former senator. Meredith, 58, served as a senator in the Red Chamber between 2010 and 2017. Police said she was an adult at the time.

A former senator who resigned from the upper chamber amid scandals related to alleged sexual misconduct is now facing criminal charges.

He also acknowledged the sexual relations outlined in the report but said nothing took place until she turned 18. Meredith has been released on a promise to appear in court. A source confirmed to The Canadian Press that the man in question was the former Conservative senator.
