Gallagher's late goal pushes Chelsea past Crystal Palace (ESPN)

Chelsea's first win under Graham Potter is a testament to their squad depth, after Conor Gallagher subbed on to haunt his former club.

[Liverpool](/soccer/club/_/id/364/liverpool), [Man City](/soccer/team/_/id/382/manchester-city), Arsenal and now Chelsea. [Joel Ward](https://www.espn.com/soccer/player/_/id/136571/Joel-Ward). He was poor against [Leeds](/soccer/team?id=357) in their 3-0 defeat back in August, and sent off against [Leicester](/soccer/team?id=375) in their next match. He ended up managing 74 minutes until he was replaced by [Armando Broja](https://www.espn.com/soccer/player/_/id/291535/Armando-Broja). [Wesley Fofana](https://www.espn.com/soccer/player/_/id/270190/Wesley-Fofana) also looked shaky at times against Palace with that front three causing the Chelsea defence all manner of difficulty. [Jordan Ayew's](https://www.espn.com/soccer/player/_/id/123518/jordan-ayew) brilliant cross split Chelsea's defence and it was sheer determination that saw Edouard able to get his studs on the ball to divert it past Kepa. But the controversial moment of the match came in the 32nd minute as [Thiago Silva](https://www.espn.com/soccer/player/_/id/96254/Thiago-Silva) was fortunate to escape with just a yellow card after he got caught in possession in his own half and inexplicably handled the ball (perhaps twice) to prevent [Jordan Ayew](https://www.espn.com/soccer/player/_/id/123518/Jordan-Ayew) from having a run through on goal. The win will be a relief for Potter -- and they were fortunate to keep Silva on the pitch -- but he has work to do ahead of [AC Milan](/soccer/team?id=103) on Wednesday. [Denis Zakaria](https://www.espn.com/soccer/player/_/id/222628/Denis-Zakaria) is yet to feature for the Blues. Up front, [Raheem Sterling](https://www.espn.com/soccer/player/_/id/156366/raheem-sterling) was dangerous off the flanks while [Kai Havertz](https://www.espn.com/soccer/player/_/id/231182/Kai-Havertz) used his physicality well to win key headers, and Aubameyang took his chance well, but there were few chances and it required Gallagher's wonder strike to swing this match in Chelsea's favour. [Upcoming fixtures](/soccer/fixtures?league=eng.1) Gallagher had received a brilliant reception from the Palace fans as their reigning Player of the Year after his loan spell there last season, but he broke their hearts with a brilliantly measured strike from the edge of the box in the 90th minute to give Potter the three points.

Why Jorginho shouted at Chelsea teammates and what happened ... (Football.London)

Graham Potter saw his first win as Chelsea boss thanks to goals from Conor Gallagher and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Potter made use of his stoppage to get into deep conversation with Fofana, the main culprit in Edouard's opening goal of the game. The Selhurst faithful even showed their appreciation when he entered the pitch in the second period of the game with the scores tied. The perfect time to sit back and take in the game as football.london looks at the moments you may have missed below: First goals from Gallagher and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang allowed followers to see some promise in the Blues' performance.

Report: Fabrizio Romano Gives Update On Christopher Nkunku To ... (Sports Illustrated)

Fabrizio Romano has given an update on the news linking RB Leipzig's Christopher Nkunku to Chelsea.

Chelsea staff were present, and RB Leipzig sanctioned the medical as the clubs are now working on a deal that suits all parties. Nkunku certainly had a medical for Chelsea during the summer, and it wasn't an individual medical as some are suggesting in reports. Everyone surrounding Chelsea is excited, and the rival fans are worried about the Blue's signing such an talented player, or on the brink of signing anyways. Nkunku's release clause is £58million next summer, but Leipzig of course currently value him higher than that. The fee and the payment structure are currently being discussed, with Chelsea hopeful of wrapping a deal up for the player. The medical had Chelsea staff present, and it was for a 2023 transfer, whether that is for January or the summer remains to be seen.
