An additional road test will also no longer be mandatory to obtain a Class 4 driver's licence, which is required to transport passengers in taxis, ride-share vehicles, limousines, small buses and ambulances. Alberta Transportation Minister Prasad Panda says an estimated 700,000 Albertans are driving with graduated licence. and have no drugs or alcohol in their system while driving before getting their class 5 GDL, then wait an additional 2 years before taking an advanced road test to get a full licenced.

An enhanced knowledge test, and driver medical and vision test will still be required to obtain a Class 4 licence. An additional road test will no longer be mandatory to obtain a Class 4 driver’s licence, which is required to transport passengers in taxis, ride-share vehicles, limousines, small buses, and ambulances. The province says an additional road test will no longer be required to upgrade to a Class 4 licence.
