Backup outside linebackers: The Packers aren’t showing much trust in backups Jonathan Garvin and Kingsley Enagbare at edge rusher. And he ran just seven total routes, the fewest among the wide receivers with at least 10 snaps. Nijman actually played a terrific overall game against edge rusher Robert Quinn, while Jenkins’ return solidified the right side of the line and made everyone else better, especially in the run game. Lewis played 31 snaps and was a big part of the outside zone run game. TE Marcedes Lewis: Aaron Rodgers wanted the veteran run blocker on the field more in Week 2, and Matt LaFleur made it happen. LB Quay Walker: His speed was big for slowing down Justin Fields’ outside the pocket, and he nearly had an interception in coverage late in the game.

4 Downs: Making sense of the Bears' deflating loss vs. Packers (Chicago Bears Wire)

The Chicago Bears were defeated 27-10 by the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football, dropping them to 1-1 and extending their losing streak against ...

Gordon allowed 10 catches on 13 targets for 162 yards and a touchdown against the Packers. So it was shocking to see him struggle on the ground against the 49ers with just 26 yards on 17 carries (1.5 average). The expectation was Aaron Rodgers would target the young cornerback in this game, and that’s exactly what he did. Justin Fields’ development and cultivating this young roster remain the most important aspects of this 2022 season. But cornerback Kyler Gordon, who played both outside and in the slot, had himself a brutal showing against the Packers. Montgomery had 122 rushing yards on 15 carries for a 8.1 average per carry. Justin Fields threw just 11 passes against the Packers, where he completed seven for 70 yards and an interception. It was difficult to make any judgements about this Bears offense after they played an entire game in a monsoon. They need to clean things up with some good running backs on deck in the coming weeks. There were concerns about the run defense heading into Sunday night’s game, and it was another brutal showing against the Packers. But things quickly went downhill, and things got ugly as the Bears were outscored 24-3 in the final three quarters. While AJ Dillon wasn’t as dominant as Jones, he had a solid outing with 61 yards on 18 carries (3.4 average).

What is the Bears' all-time record against the Packers? (NBC Sports Chicago)

The Chicago Bears lost another game against the Green Bay Packers, and now fade further back in the rivalry record.

The Bears owned a more favorable 3-1 record over Favre when he played for the Vikings in the twilight of his career. The last time the Bears beat the Packers was in 2018 at Soldier Field. At the time, the Packers held a slim 97-95-6 lead in the rivalry.

He also posted a TFL on Fields on a third-down run play in the third quarter. Green Bay’s safeties either had a great bounce-back game in coverage or just were not tested much down the field by Fields. Runyan’s return from a concussion was a big boost for the line, but Jenkins’ first game back from a torn ACL was a nice emotional lift for the Packers’ offense. Watkins ended up leading the team in targets with just four, but his 55-yard catch off play-action was the team’s biggest play on the early season. Green Bay loaded up on their pony package in this game, putting Jones and Dillon on the field together on double-digit snaps. With Lazard and Sammy Watkins as the primary outside receivers, the team did rotate in rookies Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs, but to a lesser extent than they had in week one.

Matt LaFleur on the Packers' run defense in the victory over the ... (packersnews.com)

Green Bay struggled stopping Chicago running back David Montgomery in the second half, meaning it likely will be a focus for the defense this week.

Even as Alexander points out the need to shore up the run defense, he also has to acknowledge the promising possibility it can be fixed sooner rather than later thanks in large part to the defensive front seven general manager Brian Gutekunst has built over the past few years. “We were in some situations to where we had him in second-and-long, get back on track situations," LaFleur said. Tape is always easier to study after a win, but the film review will still provide ample areas in which to improve against the run. But the Bears, under new offensive coordinator (and former Packers passing coordinator) Luke Getsy, stuck with what they knew could work. All of the yardage came on the ground. Joe Berry’s squad held the Bears to 70 yards through the air and Fields to 7-of-11 passing, thanks to a smothering secondary and fast pass rush.

Did the Packers pay tribute to ayahuasca, Aaron Rodgers with ... (Sporting News)

Green Bayahuasca? Per usual, Aaron Rodgers made plenty of waves this offseason, but not for drama with the organization or his latest relationship.

Packers RB Aaron Jones forced 13 missed tackles during win over ... (Packers Wire)

Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones ran through the defense of the Chicago Bears like a hot knife through butter on Sunday night at Lambeau Field.

Last season, Jones forced 39 missed tackles as a runner over 15 games, or roughly 2.5 per game – which helps put into context the 11 he forced on Sunday night. While not a big running back, Jones has terrific balance and core strength, allowing him to bounce off tacklers and stay on his feet even against bigger defenders at the second level. Gordon and Brisker missed six tackle attempts against Jones on Sunday night, and the Bears missed 17 total tackles on defense.

Smith also coached Illinois to a loss against South Florida on the lakefront in 2018. The 122 yards were the most since he had a career-high 146 in a win at Minnesota on Dec. The big question is why the Bears didn’t give him the ball on fourth down and less than 1 yard at the goal line with the Packers up 24-10 in the fourth. The Bears beat Tampa Bay when he was coaching the Buccaneers in 2014 at Soldier Field and in 2015 at Raymond James Stadium. Montgomery, who ran for just 26 yards in Week 1, had 38 on a 71-yard touchdown drive in the first quarter that gave Chicago a 7-3 lead over Green Bay. The Bears ran for 180 yards and 6.7 per attempt. [Montgomery looked more like the 1,000-yard rusher he was in 2020](https://apnews.com/article/green-bay-packers-chicago-bears-nfl-sports-ec66fd78ad5aa2ec16dc8d7880026cef) than the guy who ran for 849 yards last season and averaged 3.8 per attempt. Fields was 7 of 11 for 70 yards against the Packers, and the Bears can’t blame that on the weather. Rodgers gave them headaches, as usual, throwing for 234 yards and two touchdowns, and the Packers improved to 24-5 in games he has started against Chicago. Fields has completed just 15 of 28 passes for 191 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. The Bears will try to bounce back next Sunday when they host Lovie Smith and the Houston Texans (0-1-1). The Bears couldn’t stop Aaron Jones, who went off for 132 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Interesting Names Part of NFL's Suspension of Evans for Week 3 vs ... (Sports Illustrated)

The ruling was handed down by the father of a Green Bay Packers player. The appeal might be heard by a former Tampa Bay Buccaneers star.

So, at the end of the year, we want to be the best and we’re just taking the steps towards it.” “We want to be the best secondary in the league. In three career regular-season games against Green Bay, he caught only 7-of-15 passes for 92 yards and zero touchdowns. Evans than raced from the sideline and blasted Lattimore. In a letter to Evans that was released by the NFL, Runyan wrote: “After a play had ended, you were walking toward your sidelines. I seen him [Lattimore] punch somebody in the face. Last year, he caught 74 passes for 1,035 yards and 14 touchdowns. Also inactive against the Saints was oft-injured veteran Julio Jones with a knee injury. "All I see is Lattimore, he liked punched Lenny [Leonard Fournette] in the face or something like that and pushed Tom [Brady]. The decision was handed down by Jon Runyan Sr., the NFL’s vice president of football operations and the father of Packers starting left guard Jon Runyan Jr. The other option is former NFL receiver James Thrash. Your aggressive conduct could have caused serious injury to your opponent and clearly does not reflect the high standards of sportsmanship expected of a professional.”

The wide receiver position might have the flashly names of Evans, Jones and Godwin to keep tabs on throughout the week, but Tampa’s offensive line, considering how many inexperienced and injured players the team has on their roster, could be just as important. By the end of the game, Tampa’s offensive line (left to right) was Walton, Luke Goedeke, Robert Hainsey, Shaq Mason and Tristan Wirfs. Beyond losing Evans, who is appealing his suspension, the Buccaneers could also be out receivers Julio Jones and Chris Godwin, who didn’t suit up against the Saints due to injury, in their Week 3 matchup with the [Green Bay Packers](https://www.acmepackingcompany.com/). Packers PFF grades: Best, worst players from Week 2 win over Bears (Packers Wire)

The Green Bay Packers bounced back from a Week 1 defeat with a resounding victory over the Chicago Bears on Sunday night at Lambeau Field.

Tyler Davis played a team-high 20 special teams snaps. Rodgers also completed two passes thrown over 20 yards, averaged over 10 yards per attempt on play-action passes and didn’t have a turnover-worthy play. Deguara graded out poorly as a run blocker and didn’t have a catch. Stokes missed two tackles and really struggled on the perimeter against the run. Alexander got dinged for giving up a 30-yard completion, but he also had the game-ending interception. Watkins averaged over 5.0 yards per route run (93 yards, 18 routes) while doing all his work between the numbers in the middle of the field. Cobb ran just 12 routes but caught all three targets for 37 yards (including one contested catch), meaning he averaged over 3.0 yards per route run. 5. 4. 3. 2. 1.

Packers HC Matt LaFleur explains defense's run game woes vs Bears (Acme Packing Company)

Assumptions led to Green Bay giving up 42 yards over two plays.

Just like in the previous play, the Bears motioned their wing tight end from the weak side to run two-back power. While 42 yards over two plays may not seem like the most important thing in the grand scheme of things, the Bears’ second-to-last drive does give the Packers an opportunity to grow. The Packers also kept three cornerbacks on the field against 12 personnel again, but they were instead in Outside linebacker Rashan Gary, who was playing the left edge in the video above, got aggressive and stuck his head inside the kick-out block instead of setting the edge, which allowed Montgomery to bounce the play outside. Highlighted in the yellow box is Douglas, who on this play was essentially playing the strongside outside linebacker role in what amounted to a 4-3 front with nickel personnel. When LaFleur talks about “12 personnel” he means that the offense has one running back and two tight ends on the field.
