Di Maria sees red in first half of Monza vs Juventus - Football Italia (Football Italia)

Angel Di Maria has been sent off in the first half of Juventus' away match against Monza after lashing out at defender Armando Izzo.

Di Maria was playing through the pain in today’s match, gritting his teeth to try and help Juventus grind out a positive result, but things have not gone to plan. He is likely to get more than just a one-match suspension due to violent conduct. This was the Argentinian forward’s first red card since Nice’s 3-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain back in April 2017, when he saw red in the dying minutes of the match.

Christian Gytkjaer scores only goal of the game for Monza against Juve, while Union Berlin top the Bundesliga after a 2-0 win over Wolfsburg.

Becker then turned scorer in the 77th, chesting down a cross and volleying past keeper Koen Casteels to make sure of the three points. The visitors struggled to keep Udinese outside of their own half and their resolve was eventually broken in the 84th minute when the Slovenian defender Jaka Bijol scored from a Gerard Deulofeu corner. The visitors eventually made use of the numerical advantage, with Nabil Bentaleb scoring the only goal of the game two minutes before half-time. The newly-promoted side smelled blood in the second half and pressured the opposition defence to make mistakes, while Allegri’s side tried to look for possibilities of a counterattack. Nicholás González then made the points safe in the final minute. Moise Kean came close to equalising for Juventus in the 81st minute when his header went on target.

Roma’s next match is at Inter after the international break. Mourinho became even more infuriated and had to be held back by a member of his staff. It was unbeaten in Serie A but had only won two of its opening six matches. Mourinho steered Inter to the treble of the Champions League, Serie A and Italian Cup in 2010. Juventus played most of the match with 10 men following Ángel Di María’s red card. Nicolò Barella curled in a fantastic free kick in the fifth minute to get Inter off to the perfect start but Udinese leveled in the 22nd when Roberto Pereyra’s free kick went in off Milan Škriniar for an own-goal.

Juventus 0 - Monza 1: Initial reaction and random observations (Black & White & Read All Over)

Facing the team that was bottom of the table that had the worst attack and the worst defense in Serie A, Juve couldn't do much of anything right. The result was ...

- Juventus played a 5-3-1 for much of the post-Di Maria sending off period of time. VAFFANCULLO!!!!!” right before halftime was the signature/chef’s kiss kind of moment and based on the BWRAO Twitter mentions, not only did a lot of people hear it but a lot of people were totally OK with it. - This was a game in which the field mics were HOT and picking up so much of what fans sitting near them were saying the whole time. Along with all of the turnovers and bad first touches, of course. And when you consider it’s about to be a hellish kind of schedule when they get back from the international break, it’s not like things are going to get easier at all. - This has to be the final nail in Max Allegri 2.0’s coffin, right? That’s bad to say about any team at any part of the season. But it’s especially bad to say about a team when they’re all of seven games into the new league campaign. The thing about this certain game is that, despite all of those injuries (and there were a lot of them!), you were hoping for some sort of response following the debacle that was the midweek loss to Benfica. There was absolutely nothing of note going forward, there were moments in which Monza were absolutely dominating play — they finished with 60 percent of the possession! But when it comes to Allegri’s status, you just don’t know because the Juventus front office just hasn’t given you any kind of signal that there is some sort of change coming in the near future. Bunga Bunga himself its first-ever win in Italy’s top flight and again sent Juve players over to the curva to be berated by whistles and likely a fair amount of obscenities.
