Preferably one with some actual gameplay in it, rather than a cinematic, of course, but really, all I want is to see a game revealed as the developers originally intended, and have the chance to get excited about something that actually has substance. Call me a sucker, but I do relish that magician-style showmanship of a grand reveal, which snippets of gameplay footage devoid of any kind of context simply cannot deliver on. But even that has [started to change](https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/gta-6-report-says-its-first-female-protagonist-will-be-part-of-a-bonnie-and-clyde-double-act), with employees recently saying to Bloomberg that Rockstar have cleaned up their act considerably since that big crunch report came out in the run-up to the launch of Red Dead Redemption 2, and that its cultural transformation has also influenced the types of characters we'll allegedly get to play in the next GTA as well - reportedly a Latina woman who's part of a Bonnie & Clyde-style duo, a series first. The leaker gets their five minutes of fame and an influx of new followers, sure.

Big trouble over at Rockstar this morning, as somehow, some way, an enormous amount of early footage from GTA 6 has leaked out, spread across 90 videos ...

It’s easy to imagine that it’s going to be pretty excellent after a lot more work and polishing. In the footage the woman is named Lucia, and the man is named Jason. It’s easy to imagine this will escalate into Rockstar trying to track this hacker down and bring them to legal justice, but we’ll see how successful they’ll be in that pursuit. This seems like a genuine hack and breach of Rockstar to produce this footage. [she robs a diner and flees from the cops](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAzDzlQOi9Y) afterwards with Jason. The footage seems to confirm previous details from older leaks including the location, the Miami-esque Vice City, and the male and female leads.

Huge new GTA 6 leaks have been posted online, with a new gameplay video showing footage off its female protagonist and more.

[reported back in July that GTA 6 would have a female protagonist](https://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2022/07/27/gta-6-female-protagonist-woman-grand-theft-auto-main-character-playable/), and that the game would feature two playable characters who would resemble the real-life criminal couple, Bonnie and Clyde. The authenticity of the footage hasn’t been confirmed, though the fully voiced conversations and new gameplay elements that are shown in the robbery scene are certainly convincing. The footage was first published on GTAForums by user teapotuberhacker.

Visiblement, le hacker disposerait d’encore plus de ressources sur GTA 6, ce qui laisse présager que le feuilleton est loin d’être terminé. Dans les fichiers du jeu, on peut notamment lire (possiblement des évènements aléatoires ou bien du mode histoire) un entrepôt rempli de robots sexuels, une maison satanique ou encore un manoir appelé « Big Cat Mansion ». Concernant le gameplay, nous n’apprenons pas grand-chose de nouveau puisque les grandes mécaniques du jeu sont désormais bien connues (gunfight, course-poursuite, cambriolage…). Pour résumer grossièrement, le code source donne accès à tous les éléments d’un jeu et ses processus de fabrications (notamment des détails sur comment a été codé le titre). For now, though, it seems safe to say that we know where GTA 6 will take place, when it will take place, and who it will star (at least initially). While it’s a little sad to learn that GTA 6 won’t take us back in time (at least for the soundtrack’s sake), it makes sense that Rockstar wouldn’t want to give up the many modern conveniences a more modern time period offers (cell phones, the internet, etc.). It’s claimed by the leaker that the videos were downloaded from a Slack channel. “Ok, so this has gone unexpectedly viral, woke up to 3000 Telegram DM’s.

Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay videos and source code have been leaked after a hacker allegedly breached Rockstar Game's Slack server and Confluence wiki.

These takedown demands lend further validity to the fact that the leaked GTA 6 videos are real. In addition, some of the videos contain voiced conversations between the protagonist and other NPCs. The hacker claims to have stolen "GTA 5 and 6 source code and assets, GTA 6 testing build," but is trying to extort Rockstar Games to prevent further data from being released.

As well as making claims to be the same 'Tea Pot' hacker who was behind the Uber incident, the threat actor says they had gained access to both GTA 5 and GTA 6 source code along with other assets. That Slack server access was involved, and the very public, boastful nature of the video postings certainly suggest a similar modus operandi, however. As evidence of this, videos of Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6, which is still in the early stages of development, have been leaked and published online.

A hacker has got hold of almost a 100 videos and screenshots of GTA 6, as Rockstar Games desperately tries to remove them from the internet.

The source of those rumours also currently believes the video leaks are real. Il n’en a pas fallu plus pour provoquer une panique générale, aussi bien chez Rockstar que chez les joueurs et les journalistes. Problème : l’acheteur se serait tout bonnement fait arnaquer, en envoyant ses Bitcoins sur le mauvais portefeuille. Selon certaines sources, l’une des victimes aurait ainsi déversé 100 000 dollars en Bitcoin pour mettre la main sur le précieux sésame.

Pour le moment, nous ne savons pas dans quelle mesure le leak affecte le travail de Rockstar sur le jeu mais aussi en tant que business. A priori, ce leak serait l’œuvre d’un hackeur qui aurait mis la main sur un tas de documents importants concernant le développement du jeu, et a donc servi la communauté une flopée d’images de gameplay. D’après ce que l’on voit, il semble que la plupart des images sont des versions de développement tournées sur les machines old-gen, elles peuvent donc déjà dater de quelques années en arrière. Le studio vient de connaitre une des fuites les plus importantes de l’histoire du jeu vidéo et a vu son jeu GTA 6 être partagé sur les réseaux à travers des dizaines de vidéos volées. Les images confirment également que l’un des personnages principaux sera une femme, bien que l’on savait déjà qu’un duo à la Bonnie & Clyde serait de rigueur dans cet opus. À l’heure où nous écrivons ces lignes, la plupart des images ont été retirées d’internet sur demande de Rockstar, qui tente de faire le nécessaire pour surmonter cette épreuve.

De son côté, le pirate a indiqué que le code de GTA 6 "n'était plus" à vendre, ajoutant même que la personne qui a acheté le code de GTA V s'est faite avoir par une tierce personne. La ou les personnes derrière cet acte de piratage est donc d'obtenir de l'argent, en indiquant qu'aucune offre en dessous de 5 Bitcoins, soit un peu plus de 92 000 euros avec le cours actuel, ne sera acceptée. Tom Henderson a en effet mis la main sur un échange entre les pirates et quelqu'un qui prétend être un employé de Rockstar : Une personne se faisant passer pour un employé de Rockstar/Take-Two a réussi à parler au pirate. Si vous êtes un employé de Rockstar ou de Take 2 et que vous essayez de me contacter, envoyez moi un message privé sur Telegram (...) ou m'envoyer un mail (...). L'apparent piratage du Slack de Rockstar Games, qui contiendrait également les codes sources de GTA 6 et GTA 5.

For the people making GTA 6, it'll be a big blow, not least of which because it damages the image of the studio and the game before it's even official. The whole situation has caused quite a stir among enthusiasts and those in the industry. There was some question as to whether this was the real deal or an extremely elaborate hoax, but Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier has confirmed it's legit:

[Xbox](https://www.videogameschronicle.com/platforms/xbox/) executive has shown support for [Rockstar Games](https://www.videogameschronicle.com/companies/take-two-interactive/rockstar-games/) following Sunday’s leak of Grand Theft Auto 6 assets.

The recent GTA 6 has become somewhat of a nightmare for Rockstar Games as the hack claims to have source codes in their posession.

According to Bloomberg journalist and insider Jason Schreier, the leak will not only disrupt work (possibly leading to a development delay), it’ll probably also result in Rockstar Games revising its work-from-home policies. The hack has become quite a headache for Rockstar and Take-Two as the hacker allegedly stole source codes for both GTA 5 and 6, the former of which was apparently going for hundreds and thousands of dollars. The footage is early and unfinished, of course.

Plus loin dans les commentaires, l’internaute laisse entendre qu’il est également à l’origine du piratage d’Uber, révélé vendredi 16 septembre. Grand Theft Auto VI, l’un des jeux les plus attendus de la décennie, a fait l’objet d’une fuite sans précédent, dimanche 18 septembre.

It is alleged that teapottuberhacker is the same person as White. The 16-year-old hacker was accused of being a leader of the cyber-crime team Lapsus$ after being doxxed by former associates. According to pompompurin, the hacker - who goes by White - sent proof in a Telegram chat that they were behind the GTA 6 leaks. Since then, new information has surfaced from well-known Breached - a hacking forum - admin pompompurin.

But what problem I’m not sure Rockstar has to contend with in the wake of this is that public perception of GTA 6 has dropped because of the early leaked footage. So yes, this leak is hugely damaging to GTA 6 development given everything that came out and a hacker who at least claims to have the source code of the game itself. But I do wonder if they’ll now release some official news and looks at the game they can control, given that everyone’s interest is now piqued. A segment where Lucia robs a diner had some interesting, very detailed NPC AI as they react to the robbery, and it all just looks…very good, especially for being what, potentially three years away from release? It’s not good for development of the game. But what the leaks showed was something perhaps a bit surprising.
