The Bears had one of the worst defenses in the league last season and were 0-5 as home underdogs last season, including a loss to San Francisco. Perhaps that explains why only 29 percent of bets are on the Bears but 65 percent of the money is. The 7.5-point spread is the second biggest of the week. Buffalo generated 413 yards offense a year after topping 400 yards eight times and scoring 30-plus points nine times. This season, the Dallas offence lost some key pieces in the off-season and all-pro tackle Tyron Smith to injury. But with both sides coming in fresh and the visitors with more to prove, this might be closer than expected. It’s hard to say that any Week 1 tilt is a must-win game, but the stakes are very high here, especially for the Vikes. Their home-field advantage remains sketchy and the Raiders also improved over the off-season. The Bucs should have Dak Prescott on the run all night. It’s tough to be optimistic for this team, even against a historic doormat like the Jags. The Lions have their fair share of good will, too, but it’s still Jared Goff under centre. The Chargers are another pre-season hype team that might be a bit overvalued here. If they aren’t ready to run all over a sad-sack Bears team, that could spell trouble early. Getting this many points in a rivalry game is too tempting.
