UFC makes its debut in France on a night that may cement Gane or Tuivasa as the next heavyweight title challenger.

That is a tall order for Tuivasa -- a high-level brawler who gives better than he gets but do not let three consecutive Fight of the Night honors fool you. Tai Tuivasa: Gane is a major favorite coming into the fight on the strength of his well-rounded game. Robert Whittaker is set to take on Marvin Vettori as the pair battle to remain relevant in the division thin on rivals to champion Israel Adesanya. I've fought a couple of champions now, and he's up there with the best for sure. His gift for drinking beers out of strangers' shoes, affectionally labelled a "shoey," has endeared him to the masses. Plus, Alessio Di Chirico and Roman Kopylov are set for another middleweight contest on the main card. A strong performance against Tuivasa assures that Gane's name remains on the tip of tongues in title conversations. The gimmick sometimes overshadows Tuivasa's natural charisma and a nasty habit of knocking out opponents. Tuivasa has knocked out all but one of his 14 victims in under seven minutes. Gane, 32, is only four years into his mixed martial arts journey but has developed a well-rounded game as evidenced by a nearly even split of KO, submission and decision wins.

The debuting middleweight landed an incredible front kick that led to a 19-second knockout of Dustin Stoltzfus in the featured preliminary bout of UFC Paris on ...

According to the broadcast, it was the fourth-fastest debut by a fighter in the history of the UFC’s 185-pound division. He previously competed for KSW and was a 2018 PFL middleweight tournament finalist. He didn’t wait long to finish it.

On the UFC Paris prelims, Abusupiyan Magomedov quickly stopped Dustin Stoltzfus in 19 seconds, and Benoit Saint-Denis stormed the castle of Gabriel Miranda.

After a bit of control, Egger locked up a rear-naked choke and was able to force the tap. She was connecting with punches to the face and kicks to the body, but Egger managed to clinch up. He was attacking to both the head and the body. Saint-Denis went back to the spinning elbow and connected better than the first time, and then scored himself a takedown. With seconds to go, Saint-Denis dropped Miranda with some more heavy leather, and dropped some vicious hammerfists to close out the electric round. The kick count was still in favor of Makdessi, but they didn’t appear to be that effective as Haqparast seemed to do a solid job of defending them. Miranda connected with clean trio of right hands, and Saint-Denis responded with a spinning elbow. Stoltzfus was wobbled, and then magomedov pounced on him with a barrage of punches to drop him. The second round began and Saint-Denis swarmed Miranda with fists of fury to drop him again, and then pounded him out to the crowd’s delight. Makdessi was probing with kicks, while Haqparast was looking to build off of his jab with his left hand. Makdessi recovered quickly, and then pushed the pace in the third, but Haqparast managed the urgency to walk away with the decision. Magomedov opened up the fight with a stellar front kick to the face!

His front kick stunned Stoltzfus badly, and a follow up flurry of punches sent him to the canvas for good. Stoltzfus came out aggressive, but Magomedov circled off then introduced Stoltzfus’ mouth to the ball of his foot. Magomedov’s UFC debut didn’t lost long, as he stopped his opponent in just 19 seconds.

Whittaker continues to nip at the heels of UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya.

Vettori is 2-2 in his last four fights, beating Paulo Costa and Kevin Holland but losing to Whittaker and Adesanya. "I'm the most dangerous man in this division, including the champion. Whittaker opened the fight in traditional Whittaker fashion, edging out his opponent with superior movement and combinations while making reads.

Montreal lightweight John (The Bull) Makdessi lost a unanimous decision to German-born Moroccan Nasrat Haqparast on a UFC Fight Night card Saturday.

The 37-year-old Makdessi kept coming forward in the third but at a cost, absorbing Haqparast strikes. Jourdain went to the body but ended back on the mat after a Wood trip. His record in the promotion stands at 11-8-0. Makdessi (18-8-0) stalked Haqparast from the get-go, landing kicks while a patient Haqparast looked to counter as he found his striking range. Makdessi's face began to show damage as the fight wore on with blood leaking from around his eye. The two came out swinging and Jourdain found himself on his back in the first minute after being taken down. The two touched gloves as a sign of respect after a busy first round. "I feel incredible at this weight class," Wood, who improved to 6-2-0 in the UFC, said after the win.
