Season of Plunder is all about being space pirates, and it sees the return of the Fallen Eramis villain. It’s unlike anything that exists in the Destiny universe, and it’s a secret technologically advanced city. Strand isn’t all about the grapple hook though, it includes a lot of damage abilities. At the center of Destiny 2: Lightfall is an unusual new location for Bungie’s franchise that’s heavily cyberpunk. Now it’s time to shake things up again with the launch of Destiny 2: Lightfall on February 28th, with its new cyberpunk world, new Strand subclasses, and much more. Bungie first teased its next major Destiny 2: Lightfall expansion more than two years ago, and since then, players have gained control of the Darkness, fought Savathûn and her undead army, and witnessed...
Destiny 2 just revealed both Lightfall and Season of Plunder in its showcase, and dropped a ton of new information about the franchise. Here's a summary.
- The pirate theme pervades all of this season, from cosmetics to new exotics. This will be rooted in something called a Guardian Rank system that steers players through the game, but also appears to reward players for being Sherpas for new players. The two main activities are a ship-boarding pirate battle where you launch yourself onto the deck of enemy ships. Finally, there’s something about finding maps that lead to pirate captains around the system you must kill. And Fall Guys is getting Destiny skins because Epic owns that now. It’s a new power no one has wielded before, and we are just learning to use it. This includes some modified Cabal enemies and some brand new ones, monstrous Tormentors that look like the love child of Rhulk and an Elden Ring dungeon boss. - The main destination was revealed to be a secret, Cyberpunk-looking city on Neptune that no one ever knew existed until now. Again, an in-game way to do this at last without relying on third party tools. Everyone has the ability to use a grappling hook like ability that can latch onto thin air. New supers are slashy strand hands for Titan, missiles for Warlocks and a rope dart for Hunters. The studio then left the storefront for Steam Destiny 2 and all of its expansions will come to the new platform, and Guardians will be able to pick up where they left off on either Steam or console. The Steam version of Destiny 2 isn’t going anywhere, and this isn’t an exclusivity deal with Epic.

We’re all fans of playing the game, so to speak, and getting to partner up like this is incredibly fun.” Joining the party and adding a little extra chaos to the crossover, Mediatonic made the Fall Guys collab as painless as a pillow fight. “The team at PWR are huge Destiny fans, and the map was extensively playtested until it struck a balance that felt true to both games.” “Although this was our first game of collaboration, it felt like we were at the World Series,” Said Deeb. Some areas of the map look nearly identical to the original Javelin-4 and even for something as specific as the rocket, enough similar pieces were creatively utilized in order to still get the overall feel across. “As life-long fans of Bungie and avid players of Destiny 2 and Fortnite, it has been an incredible opportunity to work alongside such talented teams,” said PWR’s creative director of game development Boomer Gurney. “Bringing these two iconic games to life in one experience was challenging and only possible thanks to the passion of everyone involved. We hold our art pillars very close, and I think you can see that in the consistency of our releases. “We came up with our short list and when we went to Epic, they were already on the same page.” Since the teams at Epic and Bungie are big fans of each other’s games, it wasn’t surprising that they saw eye to eye when choosing outfits. When we started talking about launching Destiny 2 on the Epic Games Store, the goal was to make the game even more available to people all over the world, no matter what platform they preferred.

The penultimate chapter of the "Light and Darkness saga" will see our absolute bezzie frenemy Emperor Calus return as a fully initiated Disciple of The Witness, bringing his Shadow Legion to the brand new region of Neomuna, the capital megacity of Neptune. [During an hours-long stream](https://youtu.be/dCI8Fz2uu3o?t=6548) yesterday, current Destiny 2 general manager Justin Truman said Bungie have "been working on the Destiny engine behind the scenes, preparing our technology and our game to last for many, many years to come. And Destiny 2 class costumes are coming to Fall Guys on September 17th too. After several thousand hours, I stopped playing Destiny 2 at the launch of The Witch Queen because Looking ahead, Bungie also announced that the next expansion, Lightfall, will launch on the 28th of February, 2023. [a stream recap blog post](https://www.bungie.net/en/Explore/Detail/News/51676), Bungie state plainly, "Seasonal content will continue to stay throughout the current expansion year and then move to the Destiny Content Vault when a new Expansion launches." They might not have the hugest plot developments, but they have the character developments which make people care. Expansions will stick around forever, though seasonal content will still leave at the end of each expansion cycle—and Bungie don't say anything about bringing back all the old stuff. Destiny 2 is collaborating with the Epic Games Store, including swapping some cosmetics with Fortnite and Fall Guys. This announcement leaked ahead of ...
After all, the idea that Destiny 2 and Fortnite would cross over at some point makes perfect sense. And frankly, there are plenty of Destiny 2 players that also play Fortnite and Fall Guys. Although some players might be turned off by the new cosmetics, it’s a great way to welcome Destiny 2 to the Epic Games Store. Getting Destiny 2 players excited about Fortnite and vice versa while keeping each experience intact is something that could only happen in the era of live service. Destiny 2 is consistently one of the [most popular Steam games](https://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/most-popular-steam-games/), so Bungie probably won’t lock out that audience. It’s impossible to say what goes on behind closed doors, but Sony has made it clear that it has had a good relationship with Epic Games over the past few years. Bungie says the collaboration is a celebration of the new launch, with three new skins each in Fortnite, Destiny 2, and on September 13, Fall Guys. [Bungie’s Destiny 2 showcase](https://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/destiny-2-showcase-2022-everything-announced/) on Tuesday, and the community reaction was mixed. Destiny 2 is one of the architects of the modern live service games, alongside Fortnite. By proverbially swapping spit, Fortnite and Destiny 2 can lift each other up without compromising the core systems that make each game unique. That is why aspects of Fortnite coming into Destiny 2’s world is a shock. The friction with the Fortnite and Destiny 2 collaboration centers around how different the games are.
Looking for Destiny 2 map fragments in the new Season of Plunder? Here's how you get them, and how you can unlock more map types for your Captain's Atlas.
No matter which treasure map you slot, you'll still get Plundered Umbral Energy, which can be used to focus engrams for seasonal weapons and armor. Once you get map fragments and treasure coordinates, you can use them to slot a treasure map into your Captain's Atlas, which is available via your quest screen. Just like the lures from the Season of the Hunt, this time it's all about slotting in different map types to change what you get from the expedition. This will allow you to claim an additional reward chest at the end of the Expedition activity. This unlocks after you've helped the Drifter retrieve his stolen goods and have talked to the Spider in the Eliksni Quarter of the last city, accessible through H.E.L.M. But unlike treasure coordinates, which come from doing basically every major activity in the game, you have to do something specific to get these.
While some are not fun right now (stupid exotic catalyst progression mission!), this one is turning out to be a blast, literally. And it's probably going to be ...
If they’re disabled for the raid race, would they be disabled across the rest of the game? This could lead to the almost unthinkable situation of an entire class of weapons being disable for a raid race, which again, we’ve never seen. It’s not like grenade launchers were going to be the heavy slot pick for most World’s First competing teams anyway, with everyone likely opting for more traditional DPS options, whether that’s last season’s mega-powerful Stormchaser, or more traditional exotics like Gjallarhorn or Sleeper. It also means that those random legendary GLs you’ve got stashed in your vault are now some of the strongest heavies in the game, if you don’t want to use the exotic slot for Anarchy or Prospector. Of course, this is literally about 48 hours before Friday’s King’s Fall raid race, and Bungie is very clearly not going to want that to be run with GLs in the current state they’re in.
Bungie has announced that all of Destiny 2's expansions, which include Shadowkeep and The Witch Queen, will be free for the next week.
This is great for new and returning players, as it will allow them to experience some key pieces of story content rather than having to go to lore masters to understand what is happening in the game's plot as new expansions release and older ones are removed.
