Putting the tournament in Las Vegas would be a feat not only for USA Hockey, but the NHL, whose expansion into the area, as well as other warm climates, was met with skepticism. He added that he didn’t believe he necessarily had any mental health issues, but that things he could generally shake off as typical of the job, began to stick with him. IIHF - Looking back, and forward to Christmas (IIHF)

Prior to the medal games of the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship in Edmonton, IIHF President Luc Tardif and Henrik Bach Nielsen, IIHF Regional ...

It is our job to bring hockey all over the world and we will in the next years invest a lot in hockey development,” the IIHF President concluded. “The World Juniors have been one of our best products of the last 10, 15 years and one reason can be that we only have ten teams,” said Henrik Bach Nielsen. We had to organize buses from the border, find places where they can play, find places to live for the players and their families. We helped the men’s senior and U18 national teams to go and train abroad and be able to participate in our tournaments. It’s a busy hockey calendar and we found August as the only time to play it and the most important thing is to have organized and to finish this tournament. We will then refer to the IIHF Ethics Board to analyze how Hockey Canada treated this case, whether it was in accordance with our Statutes & Bylaws.” “The most important thing is the investigation of the police and the legal system. But we said at that time that the kids and the organizing committee deserved to have a way to play it at a later date. We stuck to the protocol and had zero cases.” We are financially still alive and what is important is to keep our activities alive. Beside the World Juniors, several other tournaments in the men’s U20 and women’s U18 categories originally scheduled in winter had to be postponed including many in the lower divisions. What is important is that the ticket sale is going well for Halifax and Moncton.”
