In round four, though, Cruz ducked out of the way of a combination and left an opening for his opponent who unleashed a monumental head kick that sent ‘The Dominator’ crashing face-first to the canvas. Vera drops Cruz with a right hand but nothing else after that. Cruz had a chance there to unload but chose to back off. Vera stuffs a takedown and lands a right. Then in the fourth round, Vera was stuffing Cruz's takedown attempts with relative ease, and the former 135-pound was breathing heavily. He dropped Cruz on two occasions and saw Cruz's spirit slowly being taken out of him. But things changed from the third round until the stoppage.

I didn’t try to chase the finish, I never chase the finish. “I dropped him in the first round, and when I dropped him I didn’t go crazy. “I just believe that his style is not the best style for MMA. Maybe for boxing it can work better, but for MMA you’ve got way too many weapons going. “Honestly, me and my team, we really think the way he fights is kind of very low level,” Vera said.
