He birdies his second straight hole on the 11th to take a four-stroke lead over the rest of the field. 4:23 p.m.: Reed will bogey a second straight hole after failing to salvage par on the par-4 12th hole. He'll tap it in from an inch to move to 2 under for the tournament. 1:22 p.m.: Reed's approach on Hole 1 is out of the thick stuff. 5:20 p.m.: Phil Mickelson gets a nice birdie to move to 5 over for the tournament. A nice left-to-right putt from 10 feet centers the hole and puts him at 5 under, two shots off the lead. 5:19 p.m.: Gooch was 2 over at the end of Round 1. 6:11 p.m.: Stenson takes the safe route with his third shot on the par-5 hole. 5:52 p.m.: Reed, meanwhile, shoots his third shot from the thick stuff behind the green.
