Jaylen Brown's name has resurfaced in trade talks again, this time involving Nets star Kevin Durant. Here's how the Celtics forward reportedly feels about ...
Brown repeatedly expressed his commitment to the Celtics during the 2021-22 season while downplaying speculation that he and Jayson Tatum couldn't coexist. But Murphy's report suggests Brown is on board if the C's keep him around. "(Brown) loves it in Boston," the source told Murphy. "He was two games away from a championship.
The offer? Jaylen Brown, Derrick White and a draft pick. The Nets reportedly rejected the proposal and countered by asking for Marcus Smart, draft picks and " ...
It's far too early and speculative to say for certain, but if Boston is at all worried about Brown re-signing when his current deal expires, moving now for Durant could on the surface and in a vacuum make some sense. Brown is a big part of Boston's present and future. He has contract incentives based on games played, All-Star games, playoff performances and All-NBA honors that could be worth an additional three million dollars per season. He also averaged a career-best 6.4 assists to go along with 7.4 rebounds. Jaylen Brown, Derrick White and a draft pick. According to Charania, no trade between Boston and Brooklyn is imminent and there is still work to be done, but there "is a deal to be had that would suffice the Nets' overwhelming ask" for Durant. The Celtics are said to be "keen on ensuring the franchise can remain a championship contender for years to come," which keeping Brown would allow them to do, but they have "tremendous interest" in bringing Durant in and view him as "a piece that could take them over that final hurdle."
The Nets reportedly countered by asking for Marcus Smart plus draft equity in addition to Brown.
It's going to take a huge package to get him, and Boston has the parts to make it happen. Although there is work to be done, there is a deal to be had that would suffice the Nets' overwhelming ask. Again, the championship window for a Brown-Tatum will simply be open longer, and the defense would suffer greatly without Brown and Smart, let alone if Derrick White goes out, too. Acquiring Durant would put the Celtics on a title-or-bust clock. The proposal was rejected, and Brooklyn has asked Boston -- in any proposal -- to include Brown, Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart, draft picks and potentially one more rotation player, those sources added. When Kevin Durant requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets and his list of preferred destinations surfaced, the Boston Celtics were not considered among likeliest landing spots.
Jaylen Brown woke up Monday morning as the most talked-about player in the NBA. Now, he's responding to the latest trade rumors.
Boston has discussed a trade package centered around All-Star forward Jaylen Brown and draft pick compensation. The Celtics have made Jayson Tatum off-limits in ...
The Nets countered with a proposal to include Brown, guard Marcus Smart, multiple draft picks and at least one other rotational player. The Celtics have long seen Brown as a key piece of the franchise’s future paired alongside Tatum, and Brown still has two seasons and $56 million remaining on his contract with the Celtics. Amid the new reports about the Celtics interest in acquiring Durant, Brown tweeted out a cryptic message on Monday morning.
Tossing Jaylen Brown aside for Kevin Durant is far from the no-brainer many NBA analysts believe it to be.

Brown is well aware this won't be the last time he hears his name mentioned when fans and media members discuss a star player potentially being on the move ...
A lot can change between now and when Brown's contract expires after the 2023-24 campaign, but even in the face of the latest gossip about him potentially being on the move, he's happy where he is. Superstars change teams faster in the NBA than in any other league, usually by trade. Before this, there were the possibilities of Boston parting with him to acquire Kawhi Leonard and later Anthony Davis.
Shams Charania of The Athletic joined Early Edition to discuss whether Jaylen Brown expressed displeasure with the Celtics organization following reports of ...
As for whether there's a real chance of a Brown-Durant trade, Charania says no deal is imminent. “So for them to go from that to being a couple wins away from an NBA Finals championship speaks to the growth of the organization. Naturally, that led many to believe the 25-year-old is displeased with the organization for including him in a potential deal.
The Boston Celtics have apparently jumped firmly into the Kevin Durant sweepstakes. With the Phoenix Suns, Miami Heat, and Toronto Raptors unable to get a ...
"Brooklyn has asked Boston — in any proposal — to include Brown, Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart, draft picks and potentially one more rotation player, those sources added. The Raptors continue to be in the mix should the Nets' asking price drop in the coming weeks. Acquiring Durant would go a long way to cementing the Celtics back at the top of the Eastern Conference. Boston finished second in the East last season and snuck past the Milwaukee Bucks and Miami Heat before falling to the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals.
The Celtics have reportedly offered Jaylen Brown in a trade package to the Nets for former MVP Kevin Durant.
The core of those two, Tatum, Horford and Williams has been through a lot in Boston to get to this point. But it's not worth breaking up Tatum and Brown and sacrificing the near future to make it happen. While Durant is still a solid defender at this point in his career, he's no Smart or Brown on that end of the floor, and the Celtics would be forced to play guys like Pritchard and Gallinari – who are both limited on defense – more minutes because of lack of depth. For that reason, it's hard to argue with the fans who want them to see it through with this group. Playing alongside Durant, it's inevitable that Tatum would have to take a back seat to one of the greatest scorers in league history, and it would be ill-advised for Boston to stunt his growth like that. That would no longer be the case if it made a trade for Durant.
The Celtics reportedly offered Jaylen Brown for Kevin Durant. After years of trade rumors, how will the Celtics navigate these murky waters?
Durant is not a pristine trade target, but he’s as close to invaluable as anyone in their 30s could be. Smart is coming off his best season, but was he better to the point that his worth has changed substantially? Internal pressure, a potential Durant holdout, and plenty of other factors could affect the price just as much as the offers in the marketplace. The reporting has made it apparent Stevens’ front office has determined that swapping Brown for Durant is worth it. That dispassionate roster building was a central ethos to the prior regime headed by Danny Ainge. Though just about everyone below Ainge in the org chart is still in place, a new president of basketball operations can bring new priorities. Durant on his own may provide more than Smart and Brown combined, but the gap is not apparent. You have to feel for Brown. He’s turned into one of the top players in the league, but hasn’t spent more than a few months of his six-year career out of trade rumors. He still seemed like he was both of those things until he ran into this Celtics defense in the first round. When news broke that Kevin Durant wanted out of Brooklyn at the onset of free agency, The Athletic explored whether Boston had a shot at getting in the mix. Bringing in an All-Star entering his prime who helped lead his team to the NBA Finals is a solid pivot. Milwaukee provided an example of that when Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks finally broke through in 2021. After the surge to end the 2021-22 season, there’s a good chance reloading last year’s team proves to be the right play.

If Kevin Durant doesn't get traded to Boston, how would Jaylen Brown feel about returning to Celtics? It appears we have an answer.
Jaylen Brown would potentially be part of the exchange, which would make sense, the kind of stud player that would help the Nets rebound a bit from trading a top-three player. The Kevin Durant trade rumors have taken quite a turn. Jaylen Brown appears to have three-letter response to Kevin Durant, Celtics trade rumors
A new word is about to enter the NBA lexicon: “Extendability.” Front-office insider John Hollinger explains what that means.
Even if he qualifies for the supermax, he’ll be making “just” $52.7 million in 2027-28, which could be raised to a maximum of $63.2 million for 2028-29 in an extension. Thus, committing to pay one of these guys $40 million in 2026-27 may seem like a big swallow, but it’s the equivalent of a salary in the $25 million range today. Nonetheless, we’re on the first lap of a new race as far as the league’s cap managers are concerned. Thus, for the older cohort of extension-eligible players — those entering their late 20s such as Jerami Grant, Kristaps Porzingis, Caris LeVert, Andrew Wiggins, Dillon Brooks and Steven Adams — the cap rise isn’t going to be the all-purpose cleanser it is for the contracts of the younger players. For instance, the biggest risk with an extension like Johnson’s above is that he’ll depart in unrestricted free agency at the end of the deal due to the near-impossibility of a workable extension. Basically, we’re back in the middle of the last decade: Virtually any young player is worth locking up on a long-term deal because the increases in the cap and (presumably) the player’s own ability completely overwhelm the downside of 8 percent annual raises. If he doesn’t improve at all from that point, the rises in the cap environment alone will make him worth $145 million over the first four years of an extension. But at the end of the day, it’s a dribbling garden hose relative to the tsunami of TV money coming in. (The two sides have a mutual opt-out in 2023; while we’re here, note that everyone is making far too much money right now for a labor stoppage to seem realistic.) For the youngest cohort of extension-eligible players, it seems virtually impossible to overpay them at almost any price; in fact, “extendability” creates a downside risk that the contract might end up too low just as the player’s value peaks. One reason the Jazz might be looking harder at trading him now and rebuilding the team is the impossibility of extending him ahead of his player option in 2025. That, in turn, virtually assures he will become an unrestricted free agent in 2024 and incentivized the Spurs to move on from him for draft picks.
