Brock Lesnar Reportedly Walks out of WWE SmackDown (Comicbook.com)

Tonight's episode of WWE SmackDown might have just taken a hit courtesy of the fallout from Vince McMahon's retirement announcement.

Alvarez would add that Lesnar said some sort of derivative of "if he's gone, I'm gone." Recent reports indicate he won't have a role in creative any longer, and a new report from Fightful Select has stated that Brock Lesnar was "very pissed off" about the Vince news, with Bryan Alvarez adding that several sources are saying Lesnar has left the building outright. Not too long ago McMahon announced on Twitter that he would be retiring from WWE and that Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan would be Co-CEOs, and ever since more details have started to flow in regarding if Vince has any role in creative or the overall process.

The change comes after Brock Lesnar reportedly walked out of tonight’s “Smackdown”, shortly after it was announced that WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon was retiring from all duties, corporate and creative. McMahon retired amidst an investigation into hush money payments made by McMahon to former employees who alleged misconduct, harassment, and abuse at the hands of McMahon. Allegations were also leveled against now-former-Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis. Lesnar returned to WWE programming on “SmackDown” last month, making his surprise appearance right after Reigns had successfully defended his title against Riddle. The clash between Lesnar and Reigns was being advertised as the “last match ever” between the two men and was to be contested under Last Man Standing Rules.

WWE went on to pull Lesnar from their advertising, as they weren't sure he would make his scheduled appearance. After reports that Brock Lesnar walked out Friday afternoon prior to the evening's SmackDown taping in Boston, Lesnar did ultimately appear at the end of the broadcast, attacking Theory.

A night of speculation over the whereabouts and future of Brock Lesnar in WWE ended in spectacular fashion.

News broke shortly before 5 PM ET that Lesnar had walked out of “SmackDown” and was “pissed off”. What Did Brock Lesnar Say Before Walking Out Of WWE ... (Wrestling Inc.)

Brock Lesnar apparently delivered something of an ultimatum when he left tonight's edition of "WWE SmackDown."

Bruce Prichard had been in charge of WWE creative while also replacing Laurinaitis in Talent Relations, but Prichard is presumably now able to focus more on creative after today’s announcement that Paul Levesque has stepped back into his old role as EVP of Talent Relations. Lesnar leaving is a massive blow to WWE’s creative plans, as he’s set to face Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns in the main event of WWE SummerSlam on July 30th. As previously noted, Bryan Alvarez reported that Brock Lesnar left tonight’s “WWE SmackDown” in Boston, MA, hours before the show is set to air live.

McMahon retired from WWE after 40 years of running the company, after the board had been probing $12 million in “hush money” payments to four different former employees with whom he had sexual relations. Brock Lesnar Gives WWE SummerSlam Much-Needed Sizzle, But ... (Bleacher Report)

Brock Lesnar stepped through the curtain in the closing minutes of Friday's WWE SmackDown like a conquering hero there to save the day.

Until the creative forces adjust or completely blow up their methods, though, the promotion will find itself in a real jam should Lesnar ever decide not to walk through that curtain at the final hour, saving the company from chaos and uncertainty. Even if he does find it easy to work with Stephanie McMahon, Nick Khan and Triple H (or some combination of the three), there is no guarantee that he will not take another walk. While the name appeal is there based on fans' love of nostalgia and all things Monday Night Wars, we have seen that match in the past. The spontaneity of his departure Friday afternoon and business relationship with McMahon, though, creates very real questions about his long-term future in WWE. Lesnar is a proven draw and a star with appeal beyond the world of professional wrestling.
