Martinez, a Blue Jays announcer and colour commentator since 2010, announced his cancer diagnosis and leave of absence from Sportsnet in April 2022. "Ken texts me about twice a month to check in on me and my battle with leukaemia," Campbell said. Campbell, who hosts Blue Jays Central on Sportsnet, announced his own leukaemia diagnosis in March. He stayed on as a member of the broadcast team throughout his treatment, giving him the opportunity to witness first-hand the support he received not only from his Blue Jays family, but from the entire baseball community.
