Better Call Saul season 6 episode 9 review: Jimmy and Kim learn ... (What's On TV)

As promised, Kim (Rhea Seehorn) and Jimmy (Bob Odenkirk) try to carry on with their lives as if nothing has happened. The Saul Goodman and Associates sign is ...

Mike is a proud, sarcastic nerd with a penchant for comic books, comic book movies, and movies in general, and occasional delusions of grandeur. Kim finally admits she knew about Lalo and didn’t tell Jimmy because she was just too addicted to the scheme and the idea of being together with him having fun. He then goes to get a drink and sips on a very good wine, being friendly with the restaurant manager about wine and a bottle of wine Fring is saving for a special occasion, but he abruptly leaves. Kim tells Jimmy they’re bad together and people suffer because of them. As the last two that saw him, the two are backed into a corner. He also promises the Salamancas won’t be a problem, as he’ll see to it justice will be had. Jimmy earnestly tells her an alibi, then admits he was always jealous of Howard. Cheryl doesn’t buy it, so Kim makes up a story about seeing him doing drugs in his office. He meets with Don Eladio (Steven Bauer), Hector (Mark Margolis), the twins (Daniel and Luis Moncada) and Bolsa (Javier Grajeda). Hector is accusing Fring of killing Lalo and plotting against him and Eladio. But unfortunately for him, there’s absolutely no proof or evidence, given Lalo only spoke to Hector directly. Fring returns home and tells Mike (Jonathan Banks) to work ASAP on finding an engineer to complete the superlab. The Saul Goodman and Associates sign is installed. At the heart of it tall, this is a show about addiction. Kim is continuing her work in the courthouse.

Better Call Saul season 6, episode 9 recap - "Fun and Games" (Ready Steady Cut)

Episode 9 opens with a crane assembling an office sign that says “Saul Goodman & Associates.” Jimmy looks up at the sign, seemingly proud.

It seems she has become self-aware of who she has become and no longer wants to be the monster that she is when around Jimmy. Better Call Saul has answered the fate of Kim. And it was simple. Kim has come to terms with the toxicity she and Jimmy create. Later in the evening, an agitated Jimmy confronts Kim and tells her not to throw everything away. Jimmy is in denial and tells Kim that she makes him happy. Kim steps in and brings more depth to the fake story — she tells the wife she saw Howard a year and a half ago snorting drugs in his office. The judge is confused as to why she is withdrawing. The wife of Howard confronts Kim and Jimmy about the elaborate pranks that Howard accused them of. This is the beginning of the end for Wexler. Mike assures Vargas’s father that there will be justice against the Salamancas. The father states it will not be “justice” but “revenge.” He knows revenge will not change the fact that his son is gone. He makes it clear that his son’s death was not painful, that he had a good heart and was involved with the wrong people. It’s an animated conversation between them, with the man eager to get his stories across as Gus listens intently as they discuss the exceptional wine and a prestigious vineyard. He wants construction to resume in the lab.

'Better Call Saul': Jimmy is now Saul, so what's next? (NME.com)

McGill's legal partner, Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn), is gone too – maybe not for good given there are four episodes left but she and Jimmy have permanently ...

Jimmy has seen off his brother and conquered law firm Hamlin, Hamlin and McGill – and with Kim gone, he has nothing left to live for so becomes Saul. We knew it was coming. It’s necessary to keep up the cover story but too cruel for Kim. In a parking garage not long after, she gives Jimmy a goodbye kiss and drives away. Subsequently resigning from the New Mexico State Bar and realising how unforgivable her actions have become, Kim walks away from Jimmy even after he confesses his feelings for her. Howard’s wife Cheryl is distraught, having never suspected her husband had a drug problem (he didn’t, the entire thing was made up by Jimmy and Kim) and Kim is forced to tell one lie too many when she informs the widow she walked in on Howard snorting lines in his office. It’s remarkable to witness this side of Gus – enjoying himself – but he knows all too well from what Don Eladio did to his former partner Max that there is no room for love in this game. The result goes in Gus’ favour and Hector is put out to pasture, waiting to take his true revenge in (spoilers) season five of Breaking Bad.

'Better Call Saul' Season 6 Episode 9 Recap: Life Goes On (Collider.com)

We still have no idea what might happen in the remaining episodes of Better Call Saul Season 6, but for now, let's recap Episode 9, "Fun and Games."

Together, Saul and Kim push each other to lie and break the law, all in name of having fun. The decisive moment comes at Howard’s memorial service at HHM, when Saul and Kim realize that their lies lead to a lot of pain and suffering. On the day after Lalo’s return and Howard’s murder, Kim and Saul do their best to have a regular day at work. Mike promises to look for a new engineer and crew to take care of the job but underlines the process could take some time. Saul and Kim play their part, doing what they can to sell the lie that Howard was a drug addict. To make the story more credible, Kim tells one more lie, claiming she had witnessed Howard snorting coke while she was still an intern at HHM. That moment leads to Kim’s breakdown, as she cannot pretend she’s a good person anymore. After coming out on top of his final confrontation with Lalo, Gus has eliminated the main threat to his plan to build a meth lab and make a move to take over the entire drug business from the cartel. On one side, Gus is ready to declare victory and move forward with his plans to take down the Salamancas. On the other, Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) and Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn) are trying their best to keep it together after the gruesome murder of Howard Hamlin (Patrick Fabian). And while each pawn on the Better Call Saul board has their own game to play, everyone is doing the best they can. Also on the organized crime side of the series, Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks) is dealing with the guilt of having delivered Nacho to the Salamancas. Mike cannot forget the fact they gave away a young man with a good heart just to keep Gus’ lies intact. For starters, HHM is downsizing after the death of Howard, incapable of keeping its size after being dragged into a drug addiction scandal and losing all of its leading partners. So, to solve the issue, Don Eladio reviews all the evidence he has at hand. The second half of Better Call Saul's sixth and final season started with a bang, bringing a bloody end to the feud between Lalo Salamanca (Tony Dalton) and Gustavo Fring (Giancarlo Esposito). Now, Episode 9, “Fun and Games,” takes us to the day after Lalo’s death, showing how everybody is dealing with everything that took place on that traumatic night.

Better Call Saul Season 6 Episode 9 Recap, Theories, and Thoughts (ComingSoon.net)

As others have pointed out, with Lalo Salamanca out of the picture, and with the Howard Hamlin storyline completed, where else can Saul go? As stated last week, ...

She captured the intricacies and nuances of her character to perfection. Saul is the true persona that needed to break free of his prison. Of course, what he saw was part of Jimmy and Kim’s ruse to dethrone Howard … but, at this point, the former HHM employee’s “curious” actions throughout the previous month are in line with Kim’s testimony. “That bastard came back from the dead and he walked through that door! “We are bad for each other … I’ve had the time of my life with you, but other people suffer because of us … together, we’re poison.” “I know that was tough,” he says. “You did what?!” He pleads with her. “And now I wished I had.” (Jimmy looks astonished at Kim’s ability to lie better than he ever could. After a beat, he notes they need to find a new engineer and crew to finish the job. He doesn’t seem too enamored with Hector, and maybe there was friction between him and Lalo. So long as Gus respects the big guy, Eladio doesn’t care what the “minions” do to each other. Anyways, later, Gus arrives back at his house and goes about opening the shutters to let in the light. The episode opens with one of those amazing musical montages set to Harry Nilsson’s “Perfect Day.” We see Jimmy installing a new sign on his headquarters, Kim meeting with clients; and Mike and Co. cleaning up the mess in Jimmy’s apartment left behind by Lalo. Basically, they’re living their lives as though nothing had ever happened.

Better Call Saul Season 6 Episode 9 Review (Game Rant)

Better Call Saul delivers shock in an unprecedented fashion to perhaps signal the real end of Jimmy McGill. Sad Kim Wexler and Jimmy in Apartment break up.

Having Kim simply end her relationship with Jimmy in such a normal way might be something that divides fans, as the moment seems a bit surreal, but in a way, it’s also the perfect ending for her own character arc. In Gus’ case, that means heading down to Don Eladio’s estate to confront Hector’s accusations, which ultimately fall flat due to the very nature of Lalo’s own perfect backup plan to be able to fake his death whenever the opportunity called for it. The opening scene shows Mike’s cleanup plan unfolding as Kim and Jimmy go about their days exactly as if nothing had happened, while he and the rest of Gus’ henchmen leave the apartment looking as good as new.
