HBO has dropped a teaser for "The Idol," an upcoming series co-created by Sam Levinson and the Weeknd and starring Lily-Rose Depp.

Alongside Depp and Tesfaye, Troye Sivan, Suzanna Son and Steve Zissis were announced as series regulars on the show with Melanie Liburd, Tunde Adebimpe, Elizabeth Berkley Lauren, Nico Hiraga and Anne Heche in recurring roles. In April, Variety reported that Amy Seimetz had exited from her role as director on the project. The plot follows a self-help guru and cult leader who develops a complicated relationship with an up-and-coming pop idol.

Co-created by the Grammy-winning artist, his producing partner Reza Fahim and 'Euphoria' showrunner Sam Levison, the series will be directed by Amy Seimetz.

“The production will be adjusting its cast and crew accordingly to best serve this new approach to the series. “The Idol’s creative team continues to build, refine, and evolve their vision for the show and they have aligned on a new creative direction,” HBO said in a statement. But in April, it was announced the series would “adjust,” overhauling its cast and crew to fit a new creative direction.
