Colorado Avalanche Still Talking With Nazem Kadri, Josh Manson ... (Colorado Hockey Now)

Still talking. That's what I'm hearing, anyway, regarding the situations with potential Colorado Avalanche unrestricted free agents Nazem Kadri and Josh ...

If the Avalanche somehow pull a rabbit out of a hat and sign both guys, they will need to move out some other salary at some point before the start of the season. It would not shock me if Helm went back to Detroit, by the way. If Kadri leaves, Andrew Copp might be a nice replacement, or Vincent Trochek. Or, hey, maybe those Patrick Kane rumors will come to fruition.

Why the NY Rangers should make a serious run at Nazem Kadri (Bluelinestation.com)

First and foremost, the Rangers need a second-line center to form a lethal two-headed monster with Mika Zibanejad. They need someone who is going to produce ...

That seems the only feasible way the Rangers could swing a deal for Kadri today and, given everything he would bring to Madison Square Garden, it is a complicated dance that would be well worth taking part in. Kadri would give the Blueshirts a legit second-line center, and he would also considerably boost the team’s overall strength in depth at the pivot position. However, there are ways a deal like this could be executed, but Drury would have to get clever. Outside of trying to move pieces to create extra cap room, Drury could look to execute a sign-and-trade with a rebuilding team. He also knows what it takes to win having helped the Avs win the Stanley Cup this past postseason. True, but there could be a way to make this deal work.

3 Most Logical Destinations for Nazem Kadri in Free Agency (The Hockey Writers)

It's the second biggest day of the offseason for hockey fans as free agency officially opens up on Wednesday and while the Colorado Avalanche would surely ...

Firstly, the way he was treated on his way out of town — he had expressed his interest in remaining with the team before being shipped out to Colorado and, secondly, the Maple Leafs can’t afford the financial side of it unless they were to shed a big piece of their cap which isn’t likely. When it comes down to it, Kadri is going to have his pick of the litter. That again will come down to how badly Kadri wants to make another run, and my guess is one ring is just the beginning of what Kadri wants. It was suggested earlier this week that Andrew Copp wouldn’t be returning to the Rangers which could be an excellent opportunity for them to go after Kadri. More offensive explosiveness than Copp, Kadri plays a similar physical style that could help with levelling out the middle six in New York City. ESPN’s Emily Kaplan did report that the Flames could be a dark horse team for the veteran forward, but left that door open. That said, Kadri would likely get more on the open market which could be one of the factors playing into him hitting free agency.

NHL Free Agency: Signing Nazem Kadri has pros and cons (Puck Prose)

NHL Free Agent Profile: Nazem Kadri Could Sign with One of Two Teams as the free agency period begins and teams look to improve their roster.

He will likely get more than the $4.5 million AAV he got on his last contract. He can be a bit of a liability on the defensive end. Over his playing career, he is a 0.69 point per game player. At times during his career, Kadri has not made the best decisions on the ice, went too far, and which resulted in him getting suspended. As mentioned above he is a Stanley Cup champion. One of those players, Nazem Kadri, could be in for a big payday, just weeks after winning the Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanche.

NHL Rumors: Toronto Maple Leafs, Nazem Kadri, and the San Jose ... (MyNHLTradeRumors.com)

The Toronto Maple Leafs and their goaltending. Nazem Kadri's short list should come quickly. The Sharks could have two players on the move.

Kadri will talk to the GMs, the coaches, and maybe some players involved at that point, and then make a decision. “I can tell you that the expectation is that the Leafs will be bringing in a second option in net at the NHL level. They have a little bit of a budget here but they also have some wiggle room, $7.5 million in cap space as we’re talking right now to make that move.

Kiszla: In quest for legit No. 2 center, Avs should consider trading ... (The Denver Post)

Nazem Kadri can buy a bigger house somewhere else in the NHL, but he'll never have a better home than what he found here in Denver, where folks wrapped him ...

He’s not worth a penny more than $7 million per year, at a reasonable term, to Colorado. No offense to J.T. Compher or Alex Newhook, but they ain’t Kadri. But those skills are not as essential to the Avalanche’s defense of the Cup as what Kadri or another legit No. 2 center could provide this team in its quest to repeat. But MacFarland has respectfully asked Darren Ferris, the agent for Kadri, to keep the Avs “in the loop.” Hey, we all want to get paid, right? Before the puck drops on a new NHL season in October, and certainly prior to the next playoff run, I believe the Avalanche is going to need a legit No. 2 center.

Kadri continues to weigh his options — The Fourth Period (The Fourth Period)

Nazem Kadri is still talking to teams and narrowing down his choices in free agency.

Kadri, 31, helped the Colorado Avalanche capture the 2022 Stanley Cup, picking up seven goals and eight assists for 15 points in 16 playoff games. During the regular-season, Kadri scored 28 goals and added a career-high 59 assists for a career-high 87 points. Unrestricted free agent centre Nazem Kadri is still engaged in contract discussions with multiple clubs and is expected to narrow down his options on Thursday, which could then shift into a decision.
