Aaron Rodgers' man bun is on the line in golf bet with Charles Barkley (USA TODAY)

Aaron Rodgers and Charles Barkley have a fun side bet going at this weekend's American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament in Tahoe.

"Just because you're too cheap to cut your hair, you can't make it a style," Barkley joked during an appearance in Reno, Nevada, last month to promote the American Century Championship. "Man, here's $25. Go down to Fantastic Sam's and get that thing cut off the back of your head. Last year, he came in 76th of 88 golfers, which was his best finish in years. Just because you don't cut your hair, that's not a style. Barkley made the bet with Rodgers during “The Match VI,” the made-for-TV golf competition that pitted Rodgers and Tom Brady against Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen. Rodgers and Brady won, but commentary from Barkley, who is a TNT analyst, made for some of the best entertainment. Rodgers, who has finished in the top 20 of the American Century Championship in the last five years, will again be golfing with many of his friends, including former Packers players A.J. Hawk and Charles Woodson, “Top Gun: Maverick” actor Miles Teller, singer Justin Timberlake and Brian Baumgartner of “The Office." Aaron Rodgers hasn’t missed an American Century Championship in the 18 years he’s been in the NFL, but his participation this year comes with a twist — a man bun twist.

“I could play left-handed and with a 7-iron only and beat Charles,” Rodgers said after Wednesday’s celeb-am round. As much faith as Chuck has had in the Warriors and jump-shooting teams winning championships, that’s the … that’s the amount of faith I have in him hitting the top 70.” “He’s been working on his golf game,” said Del Negro. “And his swing looks better. Just because you’re too cheap to cut your hair, you can’t make it a style.” I know he got a lot of help from Stan Utley, and that helped. Last year the Caesars Sportsbook by William Hill offered a betting line on whether Barkley could finish in the top 70. “Aaron’s a lot better golfer than me. I would bet on him to finish in the top 70.” The aggregate distance of each team’s top player decided the match. And it was genius, some of the stuff he was telling me. “You know, I would have said no two weeks ago, but we were in Dallas together and we went out an dhit on the range,” said Romo. “And we were just talking golf. Dixon promptly opened it, sprayed it and shared it with her teammates.

"He makes it easier that he's smiling," Melvin said of Profar. "Just looking at him and the way he was with a smile on his face makes us feel a little bit better." The Lakers were a massive disappointment in 2021-22 as they finished under .500 for the seventh time in the last nine years and were unable to reach the NBA play-in tournament. There is a lot of pressure on many of the key influencers in the Lakers organization. The MLB has done a great job of telling the post-mortem story of African-American inclusion in its ranks, but it is time to raise that relevancy by telling more of the backstory in greater depth. There seems to be a building divide in Los Angeles Lakers land between who LeBron James wants the team to add this offseason, and what those in the front office would prefer to do. In 2021, the Rangers cut ties with the defenseman after a series of incidents, including a physical altercation with goalkeeper Alexandar Georgiev. DeAngelo has also received criticism for his activity on social media, including tweets that questioned the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic and assertions that the state of Pennsylvania was trying to "rig" the presidential election. At a time when African-American participation in the game is at a post-integration all-time low, further exposure of the heritage of the game is greatly needed. There is no value in taking that bet (unless you are going to go the other way — which is not offered) and there are four other programs where you are paying a premium for them to get to that mark. A statement from a Committee spokesperson reads in part: “We remain committed to securing Mr. Snyder’s testimony on the toxic work environment at the Washington Commanders following his failure to appear voluntarily at the Committee’s hearing and his continued refusal to allow his attorney to accept service of a subpoena.” This episode also comes amidst uncertainty regarding Snyder’s future in the day-to-day operations of the team. Last season, he recorded 51 points with the Hurricanes and the team was plus-30 with DeAngelo on the ice. “Just because you’re too cheap to cut your hair, you can’t make it a style,” Barkley joked during an appearance in Reno, Nevada, last month to promote the American Century Championship. “Man, here’s $25. Go down to Fantastic Sam’s and get that thing cut off the back of your head. The ACC is a made-for-TV event that pits some of the biggest American celebrities against each other.
