The Ottawa Senators have acquired Alex DeBrincat, one of the top younger scorers in the NHL today, in a blockbuster trade with the Chicago Blackhawks.

He has one more season remaining on his contract with a $6.4-million cap hit and will be a restricted free agent in the summer of 2023. That trade reportedly would have included the seventh-overall pick, which the Senators then used to acquire DeBrincat. DeBrincat, 24, is a dynamic scorer who has already surpassed the 40-goal mark twice in his first five NHL seasons.
