The photos show a sleek and aerodynamic design for the upcoming car built on the E-GMP platform. Full reveal on June 29.

While we don’t know prices yet, if the Ioniq 6 shares a platform with the Ioniq 5, it will probably be priced similarly. Speaking of the EQS – the Ioniq 6 looks a lot like it. There are two interior displays right next to each other, with the driver side display showing instruments and the passenger-side as an infotainment touchscreen display. Hyundai’s original codename for it was “Streamliner,” and this is quite apparent in the design. The Prophecy was proposed as a “sporty” sedan, so we can also hope for it to show even better performance than its Ioniq 5/EV6 siblings. It boasts an aerodynamic drag coefficient (Cd) of .21, which is among the lowest available right now.

Hyundai IONIQ 6 EV: Big, Bold, Beautiful (WIRED)

The company tapped digital design to turn its latest sedan into a sleek performance ride.

Following the design and performance success of the Ioniq 5 and Kia’s EV6, the automotive world has been eagerly watching to see what will follow. SangYup Lee, executive vice president and head of the Hyundai Global Design Center, refers to the sweeping silhouette as “ streamliner typology.” The other finalist was the Ford Mustang Mach-E—making all of the final three EVs.

Here's Hyundai's next electric vehicle, the Ioniq 6 sedan (Ars Technica)

Hyundai has translated the Prophecy concept into its curvaceous production car.

Production of the Ioniq 6 is due to start this July in Korea, and its formal public unveiling is scheduled for July 14. So that's how we balance that out—that's how we actually do the hierarchies," Lee explained. "So we always think about right balance, user experience and the buttons and the combination with the voice activation together. The right balance of the pixel and light signature is a key in our design," explained Lee. But the sales division and marketing decided that 4,485 [mm, or 176.5 inches] was about the right size," Lee told me. Lee told me that single curvature designs like the Stout Scarab of the 1930s was an influence.

2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6 Revealed, Looking Like the Future (Car and Driver)

The Hyundai Prophecy concept hinted at EV design to come. Do its predictions come to pass in the Ioniq 6 electric sedan that will start production next ...

When envisioning the interior, Lee and the team were aware of both the interest in newer tech and the usability of it. All Ioniq models ride on the Hyundai E-GMP dedicated electric platform, shared with the Kia EV6 and the Genesis GV60. The Ioniq 6 rides a little higher than the Prophecy concept, a reality of transferring the vision to a production and street-legal platform. The Ioniq 6 feels thoroughly modern and fresh. The Hyundai Prophecy debuted in 2020, and we can see its smoothed river-rock profile and stippled LED lighting in the Ioniq 6. Along with Luc Donckerwolke, chief creative officer of Genesis and Ioniq, Lee draws novel designs with upscale flair to help Hyundai and Genesis stand out in both the mainstream and luxury markets. But our first look at the Ioniq 6, the production car based on the concept, reveals a smooth sedan that clearly references both retro and futuristic influences.

2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6 Unveiled As Striking Electric Streamliner (InsideEVs)

Hyundai has unveiled its second dedicated electric vehicle, the Ioniq 6 electric sedan based on the E-GMP platform; no powertrain specs are available yet.

It looks a lot more like the Ioniq 5, featuring a similar dashboard layout with two 12.0-inch displays on top of it, a familiar-looking steering wheel (with four-dot interactive pixels on it instead of the Hyundai logo), and variable ambient lightning. Unlike the Ioniq 5, a bridge-type center console is added, providing convenient and generous in-car storage. Speaking of the lights, the headlights, taillights, third brake light and rear reflectors all feature "Parametric Pixel" LEDs—a total of 700—just like the Ioniq 5. Actually, Hyundai considered Streamliner as a name for the vehicle, which says a lot about how the company sees the Ioniq 6. The wheelbase increase also benefits rear passengers who get more space, with Hyundai claiming the Ioniq 6 offers almost limousine levels of knee room and legroom. While those details will be communicated in July, we do know the electric sedan is built on the same 800-volt E-GMP EV architecture as the Ioniq 5, so we should expect similar powertrain and battery specs.

Range should benefit from the Ioniq 6’s streamlined design, which results in one of the lowest drag coefficients on the market at just 0.21. The South Korean automaker is focused on showing off the design of the Ioniq 6 rather than its technical specifications for now, so there are no firm details on its battery size or range. 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6: This Is It (Jalopnik)

Hyundai reveals a striking sedan as the next model in its Ioniq EV lineup.

The inside is just as techy and efficient as the exterior. Depending on the features and trim you get, there are either recycled PET fabric or eco-process leather seating, bio TPO skin for the dashboard; bio PET fabric for the headline; the carpet is made out of recycled fishing net, and the door paint is derived from vegetable oil. Hyundai calls the design Emotional Efficiency. That sleek aerodynamic body gives the Ioniq 6 a drag coefficient of just 0.21. And if you’re counting, yes that is lower than a Tesla Model 3’s 0.23. That’s even lower than the current-gen Mercedes A-Class, a vehicle that has one of the lowest drag coefficients of any vehicle in the world. The EV market should be on notice. While the design is great, what’s important is its Ioniq 6s hardware. There’s a front bumper; the suicide doors of the concept are gone in place of regular doors; the joystick steering controls are gone of course, and the afterburner-like vertical tail lamps are gone.

2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6 Could Spawn Shooting Brake, N-Badged ... (InsideEVs)

A Ioniq 6 N would likely use a similar dual-motor setup as the Kia EV6 GT platform brother, which boasts 577 horsepower and 546 pound-feet of torque.

Looking at the official photos of the Ioniq 6 sedan, its flowing lines and curved surfaces are practically begging for a shooting brake treatment. More specifically, the EV6 GT combines a 77.4-kWh battery with two electric motors making a combined 577 horsepower (430 kilowatts) and 546 pound-feet (750 Newton-meters) of torque. Asked by Auto Express whether the design team had considered a hatch-style liftback for the Ioniq 6, Hyundai's chief designer SangYup Lee offered a rather surprising answer.

Hyundai wowed customers with its new retrofuturistic electric SUV, the Ioniq 5. · Now it's adding another battery-powered stunner to its stable.

Hyundai didn't just design the Ioniq 6 to look cool. Without the constraints of a bulky engine and transmission components, Hyundai was able to push the Ioniq 6's wheels way out to the edges of the car, increasing interior space. But it's just as striking and unusual-looking.

But if the first glimpses of the cabin are any indication, rear passengers should be in for an equally retro experience. Still, the cabin does not appear minimalist, even though Hyundai designers removed such details as buttons on the doors themselves, relocating many buttons to just below the infotainment touchscreen. But that's one part that could be a little too futuristic for US regulators, so perhaps we see conventional mirrors when the sedan gets here in 2023. You've probably noticed a couple other screens by now in the A-pillars, and those are indeed the camera-based replacements for the side mirrors. That inspiration is evident in the profile and window and shoulder line, leading to a tapered tail out back. There are plenty of influences to be discovered if you stare at it long enough.
