Blue Jays vs. Red Sox series preview: Boston's hot, Toronto's not (Sportsnet.ca)

The Toronto Blue Jays return home to begin a three-game set against the surging Boston Red Sox. Here's what you need to know for the series as Kevin Gausman ...

The Boston three-gamer marks Toronto's second home series in a row against a powerful AL East opponent. Thomas Hatch and Casey Lawrence are possibilities and there’s also the chance of using an opener. Since then, they have not lost a series. The Tampa series includes a doubleheader, meaning Toronto plays eight games in seven days. The Blue Jays are 5-2 against the Red Sox this year, winning three of four at home and two of three at Fenway Park in a pair of April series. Boston RHP Nick Pivetta (8-5, 3.28 ERA) Boston RHP Michael Wacha (6-1, 2.34 ERA) Boston RHP Connor Seabold (0-0, 0.00) After Sunday’s series finale, the Blue Jays cross the continent for a trip to Oakland and Seattle. He pitched seven innings of shutout ball against the Red Sox in a win on April 28. The Red Sox (42-31) extended their win streak to seven with a weekend sweep of Cleveland. They have won seven series in a row and are 19-4 in June. The struggling Blue Jays entertain the surging Boston Red Sox for three games before welcoming the Tampa Bay Rays to Rogers Centre for a rare five-game series.

Plus, if his slider isn’t working, the changeup will be ineffective. Seabold is an unknown quantity, and how well is he going to do on the road against a potent Blue Jays lineup? Whether it’s bad or unproven pitching, it is never going to fare well against good hitting. The Blue Jays also rank in the Top 10 of most offensive categories. Boston has scored four or more runs in seven of their last eight. They are, however, just 20th in home runs with 70. For June, Gausman has allowed 11 earned runs and 29 hits in 18 innings. The first was to the Minnesota Twins, where he went 3 2-3 innings and allowed five runs on nine hits. “And then having the opportunity to come back out and just keeping doing what I’ve been doing these last few weeks in Triple-A — being myself.” Seabold has four pitches in his arsenal: a four-seam fastball, slider, changeup, and curve. He is 5-1 with a 2.09 ERA at Triple-A this season. The Red Sox opened at +152 and have moved as high as +163 — likely because they are trotting out pitcher Connor Seabold, who was called up from Triple-A Worcester last week.

Red Sox vs. Blue Jays prediction: Picks, odds, live stream, TV ... (DraftKings Nation)

We go over how to watch Monday 's game between the Red Sox and Blue Jays and make some picks.

The Red Sox shortstop has found some success against Gausman in his career, hitting .348 with two doubles and a home run against him in 46 at-bats. Although the Jays and Sox have been trending in opposite directions in recent weeks, the jump from AAA to MLB for Seabold gives Toronto an advantage in this one. The Jays also have a season-series lead of 5-2 over Boston this season. The Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays square off on Monday with first pitch set for 7:07 p.m. EST. The game takes place at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario and will be available on local TV, on MLB Network outside the two markets, or through an MLB.tv subscription. Still, Seabold will have to have the weight of that on his shoulders against a solid Jays lineup. Just 1.5 games separate the second-place Red Sox from two other teams, the Tampa Bay Rays and the Blue Jays. Though things haven’t been great for the Blue Birds as of late, losing four of their last six and seven of their last 10 overall games.

The pregame narrative: Toronto leans on the suddenly reliable Ross Stripling while Boston counters with Michael Wacha, who shut down the Blue Jays with six ...

There’s also a strong chance the favoured Blue Jays only come to bat eight times in this game, which could be the difference here. If Wacha stumbles at all, this shouldn’t be a tough bar to clear. We like Wacha to be the starter to show his true colours in this game. The 32-year-old hasn’t become an ace overnight, but his great results are backed by substantive changes. Stripling, on the other hand, has come by his results more honestly. Both Stripling and Wacha put up lacklustre results in 2020 and 2021 before impressing this season.

Red Sox vs. Blue Jays - Game Recap - June 27, 2022 - ESPN (ESPN)

TORONTO -- — Toronto's Kevin Gausman gave the Red Sox a rough time as Boston got back to playing its biggest foes in the AL East.

“I feel like he gets stronger as the game goes on against us,” Dalbec said. Stripling has a 6.52 ERA in seven career games against Boston. “If you expand with him, you’re going to have nights like this.” “That’s an awesome seven shutout innings from him.” “It’s going to be a grind. We’re going to be banging heads for the rest of the season.” Making his first start of the season and the second of his big league career, Red Sox right-hander Connor Seabold (0-1) allowed seven runs and nine hits in 4 2/3 innings. “Every team in this division can pitch, every team in this division can hit the ball out of the ballpark.” Red Sox manager Alex Cora said. “He pounds the strike zone early on and then he expands,” Cora said. Gausman is 2-0 with a 0.43 ERA in three starts against the Red Sox this season. Guerrero hit a two-run home run, his 18th of the season, Matt Chapman also hit a two-run blast and George Springer added a solo shot as Toronto improved to 6-2 against Boston. “The first game of the homestand you’re trying to set the tone, especially as the starter,” Gausman said

Blue Jays rotation lined up well vs. Red Sox, but then what? (Jays Journal)

The Blue Jays have their top three starters facing the Red Sox to begin the week, but what are they going to do over 4 games in 3 days against the Rays?

Hatch hasn’t had the best season in Buffalo so far, but he has the experience and the stuff to get batters out at the highest level. While I think the Blue Jays would likely prefer to move Kikuchi out of the rotation right away, this week’s schedule isn’t very well set up to do that. To me the first guy up would be Max Castillo, who threw four scoreless innings in relief on the weekend. As for Berrios, he had another disastrous outing on Sunday, which has happened to him far too many times already this year for someone who was expected to be a top of the rotation arm. That’s a question that has yet to be answered, but for the time being Charlie Montoyo and the coaching staff can rest a little more comfortably, at least compared to what later in the week might bring. Stripling took over for the injured Hyun Jin Ryu, who is lost for the season after Tommy John surgery, and thankfully he’s even outperformed the veteran prior to his injury.

Red Sox vs. Blue Jays prediction and odds for Tue., 6/28: Back ... (Yardbarker)

The Boston Red Sox are looking to keep themselves in second place in the American League East during their series with the Toronto Blue Jays this week.

In those five seasons, Roy was a three-time All-Star and was the 2006-07 Rookie of the Year. After his playing career ended, Roy became a high school basketball coach in Washington State. It was there that he met and began teaching a young Beauchamp. Roy was the head coach at Nathan Hale High School in Washington State. He led Beauchamp and future NBA player Michael Porter Jr. to a state title in their freshman season. It was after this season that Beauchamp decided to move to Arizona to play for Dream City Christian. This was a difficult decision for Beauchamp. He bet on himself to go to a school where he would get the most attention from college and professional scouts. “We didn’t think he was going to be there at No. 24 and we were desperately trying to move up to make sure that we could get in a range that we could get him," said Milt Newton, assistant general manager. Coming to an agreement will require bridging the gap between the 26-year-old’s original asking price and what the team has shown a willingness to pay him, of course, but progress on that front could be coming in the near future. Over the past few seasons, though, more and more players have been opting for developmental leagues, such as the G League, in hopes of making it to the NBA. This, of course, is the route that Beauchamp took. That has not only cooled the potential trade market which formed in the build-up to the draft, but also led to further optimism that a deal can be hammered out by the start of the 2022 campaign. MarJon Beauchamp has undertaken a journey to the NBA that belongs in a movie. Appearing on the Kevin Query show on 107.5 The Fan in Indianapolis on Tuesday (YouTube link), Pacers general manager Chad Buchanan discussed a pair of veteran Indiana players who have been at the center of trade rumors this offseason: Myles Turner and Malcolm Brogdon. Asked directly whether the Pacers are “actively shopping” Turner, Buchanan denied that the veteran center is on the trade block. While Collins is under contract for four more seasons at a rate of $25M annually, Gallinari is on a partially guaranteed expiring contract and will be off the books after the 2022-23 season. Even though Stripling has been solid this season, he’s been in and out of the rotation. Ryan Moore (+10000) Moore is working his way back from injury but seems to love TPC Deere Run. He won the John Deere Classic in 2016 and finished second last year. He went there because he loves Miami, the coaches, and the opportunity.” Caspino did not reveal actual figures, but Crabtree was told by sources that top Miami booster John Ruiz committed $9.5 million in NIL money to Rashada. The same sources say Rashada turned down an $11 million offer from Gator Collective, which is a booster group for Florida. Both Ruiz and Gator Collective denied having anything to do with Rashada’s recruitment.

Red Sox vs Blue Jays Picks and Predictions: Open the Floodgates (Winnipeg Sun)

The Toronto Blue Jays took Game 1 of this AL East series by a score of 7-2 behind a strong pitching performance from ace Kevin Gausman.

Wacha’s 4.42 xERA is begging for regression from his 2.34 ERA, and soon. They’ve also been road warriors, going 12-3 over their last 15 road games. The Red Sox are 12-1 in their last 13 games following a loss. This gives them a leg up on Toronto at the plate, who ranks 10th in wOBA and 11th in wRC+ over that same span. His 3.48 xERA isn’t far off from his 3.08 ERA, and his 2.86 FIP is excellent. Our best bet is our favorite pick across all markets. Blue Jays The Over is 14-2 in Blue Jays’ last 16 games following a win. Michael Wacha (6-1, 2.34 ERA): Wacha has had a career resurgence in Boston. He spent his first seven years with St. Louis and made his name as a playoff hero. Article content Article content Article content
