Colorado Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon has won the Stanley Cup, and Sidney Crosby reacts to his victory.

He scored 13 goals and 23 points en route to the Avs championship victory. It marks the first Stanley Cup ring for Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon. And a fellow Canadian NHL superstar couldn’t be more proud. The Lightning were seeking their third straight Stanley Cup.

TAMPA, Fla. — Nathan MacKinnon fell to the ice as the time on the clock ran out and he hugged his long time teammate and friend, Erik Johnson.

This year, MacKinnon took on a new role, while still being the Avalanche's offensive workhorse. And for MacKinnon, he's cemented his legacy as one of hockey's greatest, finally hoisting the Cup. This playoffs, for me, was a little bit of a coming out party because what I think that he learned — and I'll have to talk to him more about it — is he didn't have to just rack up points to be successful.
