Blue Jays vs. Brewers series preview: Manoah, Tellez among ... (Sportsnet.ca)

The Toronto Blue Jays return to interleague action when they play a three-game series against the host Milwaukee Brewers this weekend.

“Everybody wants to spend their whole career in one place but, unfortunately, they have a guy who’s arguably the best first baseman in baseball and it was my time so I can’t thank them enough. “The teammates, I loved my time in Toronto,” he said. Shaky pitching -- from starters and relievers -- has been the biggest problem. I couldn't be more appreciative of that.” The Blue Jays are 3-2 against the NL this year, winning two of three against the Cincinnati Reds and splitting a two-game series with St. Louis. Milwaukee RHP Corbin Burnes (5-4, 2:31 ERA) The Brewers (40-32) are coming off a split of a four-game series with the St. Louis Cardinals, leaving the two clubs tied for the top spot in the NL Central. The Blue Jays now turn to their ace in Manoah as they aim to win two in a row for the first time since June 11-12. Milwaukee RHP Adrian Houser (4-7, 4.24 ERA) The Blue Jays (39-30) have lost two series in a row (2-4), trimming their edge on third-place Boston to just a half game in the American League East. The Toronto bullpen did make it interesting with some struggles, but the Blue Jays held on to salvage one game in a closely contested series (their first two losses were each by one run). After taking a rest on Thursday, the Toronto Blue Jays are back in action to face the Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field.

Not only are the Blue Jays the clear favourites in this game, they has a serious advantage in the battle to score first. Blue Jays to score first and win (+120): Because there’s some serious juice on the Blue Jays moneyline (-137), this is wager becomes more appealing. To get a sense of the pitching mismatch, consider that Hauser has allowed as many runs in last five starts (21) and Manoah has all season in 81 innings. Although a strong Blue Jays offence is capable of putting any under bet in jeopardy, Friday’s matchup won’t be easy for them. A Brewers team in the dark could be in for a long day. In his career he’s held hitters to .178/.256/.238 line the first time through the order — resulting in a 1.08 ERA. Hitters intimately familiar with Manoah’s offerings have a hard enough time against him.

A rare inter-league matchup is on tap as the Toronto Blue Jays travel south of the border to take on the Milwaukee Brewers. Join us for our MLB odds series, ...

Surprisingly, the Brewers are 2-8 in their last ten games at home while Toronto has won 10 of their last 14 away from Canada. With Manoah also in line for the start, the Blue Jays are the wise pick here. Nevertheless, this offensive lineup will be facing off with a Toronto bullpen that has a collected 4.41 ERA on the year. The bullpen is considered one of the best in all of baseball, so if Houser can survive at least five innings, it will be a challenge for even an offense like Toronto’s to cross the plate. Consistency is key, and that is exactly what the Brewers have shown they can be in 2022. Additionally, Manoah ranks among the top 2% major league pitchers in hard-hit percentage and should be a big reason why the Blue Jays can silence Milwaukee’s bats in game one of this series. With an MLB-best OPS of .863 in the last 30 days, the Blue Jays are no longer messing around.

Blue Jays vs Brewers prediction, odds, betting line, spread, pick and over/under ...

Houser has been poor of late and walked four batters in his last start. With the offensive advantage and pitching advantage, I love Toronto in this matchup. Dating back to last season, Toronto is 20-5 in Manoah's last 25 starts. You were great at Pro, but this is All-Madden we're talking about and Houser is in over his head. Manoah gave up four runs to New York in his worst start of the season last week, but on the year owns an incredible 8-2 record and 2.00 ERA. Toronto will have a bit of a lighter lineup today with George Springer missing from injury, but the Blue Jays still have a massive advantage on the mound.

We go over how to watch Friday's game between the Toronto Blue Jays and Milwaukee Brewers and make some picks.

The Blue Jays need to generate some momentum, and Manoah on the mound gives them the best chance to do that. Manoah just has a clear advantage on the mound to give Toronto the win, with a 0.94 WHIP, 2.00 ERA and 8-2 record on the season. The Brewers (40-32) had a rough start to June and are trying to salvage the final days of the month to not lose positioning in the NL Central. After starting the month 3-10, they are 5-3 over their last eight games. In his last, he pitched 5.1 innings giving up six hits and four earned runs against the Yankees for his second loss of the year. They remain in second place in the AL East but with the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox both playing well, Toronto needs to turn it around quickly to stay in play for the division. The Toronto Blue Jays and Milwaukee Brewers square off on Friday with first pitch set for 8:10 p.m. ET. The game takes place at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and will only be available on local TV or through an MLB.tv subscription.

Take the Jays at a reasonable moneyline price. It’s a bit surprising to see this line so close. The Over is 22-6 in the Blue Jays’ last 28 games overall. The 29-year-old right-hander is coming off an outing against the Reds where he scattered four hits and three runs through six innings, struggling with his control as he also walked four batters. Houser (4-8) rebounded to last six innings, allowing three singles and a walk in his 102-pitch outing. But Rowdy Tellez came up short against his former team with the bases loaded, as he grounded out to shortstop. I’m not pitching up to what I need to be pitching at and I’m not helping this team the way I need to be. I just need to keep working and going at it and get things turned around."

Get a recap of the Toronto Blue Jays vs. Milwaukee Brewers baseball game.

“As far as pitching and throwing, the feeling in the middle finger has gotten to the point where it’s become minimal and it’s not affecting me,” Woodruff said. The 23-year-old Kirk remained in the game for the rest of that at-bat before leaving at the same time the Blue Jays made a pitching change. Manager Craig Counsell didn’t specify which day Woodruff would return, but Woodruff says he anticipates pitching sometime during the two-game series at Tampa Bay that begins Tuesday. Woodruff went on the IL with an ankle injury but has since been dealing with Raynaud’s syndrome, which causes decreased blood flow to the fingers. He’s always ahead in the count and he can go the other way. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. added an RBI double off Peter Strzelecki in the ninth. Blue Jays: RHP Yimi Garcia went on the 15-day injured list with a left back strain. … RHP Nate Pearson, who still hasn’t pitched for Toronto this season, is dealing with a lat strain. Brewers: RHP Brandon Woodruff has worked through two rehabilitation assignments well enough that his next start will be in the big leagues. Blue Jays hitting coach Guillermo Martinez began serving a five-game suspension. He’s doing what it takes to be one of the best hitters in baseball.” “I can flex it,” Kirk said through an interpreter. He appeared to get hit in the hand on a backswing from Jonathan Davis in the seventh.

The Toronto Blue Jays have a chance to grab a series win against the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday after earning a decisive 9-4 victory on Friday.

Milwaukee has the firepower to keep the Blue Jays offence down, which should allow them to earn a multi-run win without putting up a gaudy run total. Burnes has eight or more strikeouts in four of his last five starts, with a K/9 of 13.82 during that span. The right-hander has thrown six or more innings in 11 of his 14 outings this year, giving himself a strong chance to rack up K’s. Burnes is in the midst of another stellar season, and he profiles as the type of pitcher who could be especially difficult for the Blue Jays to handle. His season-long ERA of 4.94 is already unimpressive, but the extremely hard contact he’s allowed has resulted in a xERA of 6.54 — suggesting he’s had luck on his side at times. He should also benefit from Toronto’s lack of familiarity with him.

Game #71 Preview: Kikuchi vs Burnes (Blue Jays @ Brewers June ... (Bluebird Banter)

The Blue Jays continue their series in Milwaukee, playing the second of three against the home town Brewers. The game is scheduled to get under at 4:10 ET.

The Pitcher of the Day award goes to Kyle Hendricks, who threw 7.1 shutout innings, allowing 5 hits and a walk. As a result, he racked up the WPA, taking home the trophy with a .462 mark. However, he walked 5 in the game, so this is his only award. Alejandro Kirk, with his 4-4 night including a home run, gets the Monster Bat award. He has allowed 18 runs on 28 hits, but the big numbers are the 14 walks in that span and the 7 home runs. George Springer was in the dugout yesterday and seemed happy after testing his elbow during some batting practice. But the walk rate and home run rate are terrible. Alejandro Kirk left yesterday’s game after getting hit on the hand with the follow through swing of Jonathan Davis. Kirk went for x-rays mid-game and the results for it came back negative. They’ll probably be replaced by Keston Hiura, the recently activated Mike Brosseau and catcher Victor Caratani. Among the 114 pitchers with at least 50 innings, his 5.60 BB/9 rate is the worst, and his 1.81 HR/9 rate is the 9th worst. Hunter Renfroe has now missed two straight games due to a calf injury, allowing former Blue Jay Jonathan Davis some playing time. In that span, he has thrown just 22.2 innings, finishing 5 innings just once.

Blue Jays vs Brewers Picks and Predictions: Jays Lineup Cracks ... (Covers.com)

MLB odds, picks, and predictions for Toronto Blue Jays at Milwaukee Brewers on June 25. MLB betting free picks for moneyline and Over/Under.

The Jays are hitting better than anyone in baseball and should be able to cross the plate today with their impressive and deep lineup. LHP and the fourth-most in baseball — right ahead of the Jays. It’s a tough task to plate versus Burnes and this bullpen, but we’re high on the Jays topping their team total of 3.5. Burnes’ velocity is down slightly from last season and he's getting barrelled at nearly twice the rate he was a season ago. Yusei Kikuchi and the Toronto pen are tough to trust, but is this a price that's tough to pass up with the league's best offense? Getting 12 outs from this group of Toronto relievers is asking a lot, as they’re missing some key middle arms, and although the ERAs aren’t too shabby, getting through four Toronto relievers without an incident is rare. His secondary pitches (curveball and slider) both have a whiff rate greater than 44% but the Brewers are just 8-6 SU in his starts and 5-7 O/U. The Over is 6-0 in the Blue Jays’ last six when their opponent allows five runs or more in their previous game. Kirk will likely sit, though, after X-rays came back negative on his hand, but there is plenty of talent to replace him in the order. They closed as +120 dogs in the opener yesterday so this 100-point swing in price is significant and is a good reflection of the pitching advantage the Brewers have today. The Brewers have seen plenty of confidence in the market as they opened as long as -150 but hit -180 as of 8:30 am today. He currently sits in the bottom two percent of the league in barrel%, xERA, Hardhit%, avg exit velocity and xwOBA. The Jays are 4-9 SU in his starts and 8-5 O/U.

MLB Odds: Blue Jays-Brewers prediction, odds and pick - 6/25/2022 (ClutchPoints)

The Toronto Blue Jays and the Milwaukee Brewers will continue their three-game series as the two squad clash at Miller Park on Saturday.

The Blue Jays and Brewers are both playoff contenders. The Brewers rank 24th in batting average, 19th in on-base percentage, 12th in runs scored, fourth in home runs, and 13th in slugging percentage. The Brewers rank 10th in bullpen ERA. If Milwaukee can get a lead and go deeper into the game, they likely will hold onto it. However, Kikuchi is not a good pitcher, and Burnes is one of the best. The Blue Jays will go with Yusei Kikuchi on the hill. Likewise, the Jays must continue to pound the baseball. The Blue Jays will cover the spread if Kikuchi can give them five or more innings and contain the top bats in the Milwaukee lineup. His bullpen behind him is not the greatest, as the Jays rank 25th in bullpen ERA. George Springer has also delivered at the plate, as he is batting .260 with 13 home runs, 34 RBIs, and 40 runs scored. The Jays have the offense to support Kikuchi. Toronto ranks fourth in batting average, fifth in on-base percentage, 10th in runs scored, fifth in home runs, and third in slugging percentage. The Blue Jays defeated the Brewers 9-4 on Friday. They got rolling early when Matt Chapman cleared the bases with an RBI double, giving the Blue Jays a 3-0 lead in the second inning. The home run gave the Jays an 8-1 lead and they never surrendered the lead as they cruised to a 9-4 victory.
