The Portland Trail Blazers are a team to watch ahead of Thursday night's 2022 NBA Draft. They possess the No. 7 overall pick but are actively looking to ...

But given his age and talent, it would be well worth the risk if they can pry him away from the Raptors. If the Blazers can manage to pull off a deal for Anunoby, it would be a great bit of business. They saw the writing on the wall and knew that even with a healthy Lillard, the old roster wasn't good enough to contend in the Western Conference. Instead, they hope to re-tool around Lillard and compete again right away. Anunoby is a terrific defender and would be one of the best players the Blazers have had on that side of the ball in recent memory. After Damian Lillard underwent abdominal surgery last season, the Blazers went full tank mode for the first time in nearly a decade. Not with Lillard still around and heading towards the end of his prime.

Will Raptors trade OG Anunoby to Trail Blazers for 7th pick in 2022 ... (Sporting News)

On the eve of the 2022 NBA Draft, Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reported that the Trail Blazers are in pursuit of OG Anunoby with the No. 7 pick "in play."

Now is probably a good time to remind you that the Raptors interviewed Dyson Daniels and Bennedict Mathurin at the 2022 NBA Draft Combine, two prospects who have long been seen as lottery picks. LaVine has blossomed as an elite crunch-time scorer and is the crown jewel of this summer's free agent class. A prospect who can seamlessly fit into any minor role asked of him, Daniels also possesses intriguing upside which makes him a tantalizing prospect, just like Haliburton." "I think Mathurin has shades of LaVine and Celtics guard Jaylen Brown in his game. A couple of names come to mind. On the eve of the 2022 NBA Draft, Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reported that the Trail Blazers are in pursuit of the Raptors forward with the No. 7 pick in Thursday's draft "in play."

At 6ft 8in now with guard skills and elite defensive upside, Daniels is perhaps the hardest player in the class to find an NBA comparison for. Think of him as a more athletic C.J. McCollum. With essentially the perfect body for an NBA wing at 6ft 6in and 220 pounds with a seven-foot wingspan, Griffin is yet to turn 19 years old, and shot a blistering 44 per cent from long range on 4.4 attempts per game in his sole collegiate season. Murray is a 6ft 8in, highly skilled scorer who will be able to fill both forward spots in the NBA, and figures to be a player who will be able to create his own baskets in isolation situations. Defense is the question with Murray, but he has the size and athleticism to contribute on that end, while the team that drafts him will hope he can fill a similar role to Milwaukee Bucks All-Star Khris Middleton as a low-maintenance scorer who does not need to be the centrepiece of every play to stack up points, but can also take over if needed. At 6ft 4in with tremendous athleticism, Ivey is a point guard that plays in a similar fashion to John Wall, although he is not the natural facilitator Wall is, leaning on his scoring and driving ability for his primary value.

Other reports are Toronto wants to move up, some that they want to move down — basically, it’s draft day, and nobody knows anything. More importantly, the Raptors have the 33rd pick in today’s draft! My guess is that it’s just Portland leaking their interest in attempts to deflate the prices of their real targets — Jerami Grant, already acquired, and perhaps also John Collins.

And all these are in addition to already having Jerami Grant in the fold. Should the Blazers acquire him instead, Dort could possibly be an impactful perimeter asset for the team. That’s a pick they can use on a number of promising rookies like AJ Griffin, Malaki Branham, or Mark Williams. he averaged career-highs in points, rebounds, assists, and steals this past season. On the other hand, should Portland fail to close any deal involving Anunoby, they’re willing to go after another up-and-coming wingman in Dort. The 23-year-old Canadian also had a banner year this past season with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Despite going undrafted in 2019, Dort has made quite a name for himself. Nothing is set in stone just yet.
