In Panarin’s case, he was a 24-year-old coming off a campaign where he scored 26 goals and 62 points in 54 games with the same SKA St. Petersburg team Kuzmenko has been a part of for the last four seasons.

Kuzmenko is coming off the best year of his career where he scored 20 goals and 53 points in 45 games. Given that he has to sign an entry-level deal, the maximum salary offered could only have been $925,000, meaning he would’ve been an affordable option for the Oilers.
