This is something that is going to hit the family at some point this season; it’s just a matter of when… Based on some interviews that have come out for the season already, it feels as though this isn’t something that will be addressed right away.

Animal Kingdom stars Ben Robson and Jake Weary talk about the high stakes in the show's final season.
Ben Robson: I think season 6 is the amalgamation of all the choices, risks and punts that they took and in season 6 they get pinned into their most difficult corner as to how they’re going to escape. So yeah, to answer your question it’s all somehow topped in [season] 6 because you have the whole history of the last five years that informs the problems that will arise in the season. So I think what you’re looking at is the real high octane, big decision-making, all on the line, all-in sort of problems that they have to resolve. And I think it’s been a huge part of the success of the show. And then to sit at the top of the mountain at the end of season 5 and look back on everything… It seemed like the stakes had never been higher for the Codys heading into season 5, but then we learned that the show is coming back for a sixth and final season.

Codys wanted to take revenge on Gia and they had something up their sleeve for that.
It’ll be interesting to see if any of Gia’s investors come out and start hunting for those who lighted up the shop. It was really satisfying to see Andrew and other members of the Cody family getting together for another assignment. A few moments later, she tells Andrew that a new girl in town is killing her business because she has some really influential contacts and wants the Cody boys to take care of the problem. The Codys get together and make a plan for lighting the lady’s shop and warehouse on fire. Andrew is trying to think about what he wants to do with the plot he has while Craig (Ben Robson) and Deran (Jake Weary) have started concentrating on their work. However, the recovery of Katherine’s body made things worse for Andrew ( Shawn Hatosy) and we are surely going to see him face the consequences of what he did during the last season.
The premiere of 'Animal Kingdom' Season 6 lays a strong foundation for things to come for the Codys.
We know how Smurf hated Julia back in the day, but this exact moment in Season 6 hurt Julia the most because she wanted to be more than just a member of a criminal family. They seem to get the urge of doing what they have been doing since they were small. That particular scene is quite amazingly shot and gives the viewers an idea of how they miss their old work.
It's a deceptively smooth ride in Oceanside during the Animal Kingdom Season 6 two-part premiere. Deran holds a new role while teen Julia...
And Craig deserves all the support and accolades for what he's trying to do. It's such a realistic, perfect display of the symbiotic relationship between narcissistic parents and their kids. It's like his brain and body know something stressful is right around the corner. Of course, there's always the fear of that catching up to him somehow. The Julia and Baz parts of the flashbacks show how that relationship developed. It was a hell of a thing to say on so many levels. He wouldn't have been the person you'd expect to reclaim his mother's rep and make it his. It's a contrast from the young girl they introduced us to, and it's evident that she lost her sparkle because of Smurf. J also figured he'd get the ball rolling with the empty lot and try to sell it. J tends to be one of the most mysterious of the bunch. Julia always felt trapped within the family, crushed by the weight of Smurf's reign and manipulations. J's planning for them is working out, and they all trust him with the bookkeeping, estate planning, and more.
Our recap of 'Animal Kingdom' Season 6, Episode 1, reveals who plays with fire and gets burned in '1992,' the final season premiere.
(Not a euphemism.) All the while, though, Craig had one question on his mind: “How long you been a cop?” To prove that he wasn’t one, Vince robbed a diner, making a willing accomplice of Craig (who thoughtfully stole only cash, not wallets, lest he send everyone to the DMV). And after he caught an out-of-work carpenter named Augie trying to steal tools from the site, he even had on his payroll — and frightened to death of him — someone who could nail it all together. When Deran tased the man — repeatedly — he insisted that he’d been scared of Smurf. “Now,” said Deran, “you can be scared of me.” It bears repeating: Damn, Deran. So what was Pope doing with all that wood? Making matters worse was the fact that he got a total of zero support from Deran. Not only didn’t he understand why Craig couldn’t help out at the bar and just not drink, he didn’t see why his brother was so upset that he’d have to go a week without hanging with the baby. Not only did he have a new hottie on hand who looked like Clark Kent, Trey gave him a sweet surfboard to thank him for running the influencers out of Oceanside. Plus, while trying to obtain a blank invoice to cover up the fact that Pope had spent $18k on wood (more on that later), Deran had crossed paths with the lumber yard’s owner, the same guy who’d run amateur surf competitions when he was a kid — and accepted payoffs from Smurf to ensure that her youngest son lost. In Deran’s estimation, this wasn’t about Nick at all, Craig just didn’t like that Renn had him “whipped like a little bitch.” In Craig’s estimation, on the other hand, this was all Deran’s fault; he wished he’d ignored his kid brother’s advice, taken the tot and run. In the present, Craig was surprised to find an old drug buddy in his house with two beach babes and a bag full of blow. In the present, Deran learned from a regular bar patron named Trey that annoying influencers had moved in next door to him. The new dad was having a helluva time dealing with seeing his son only when his ex said that he could. But Julia… she was welcome to stay and achieve her potential in more challenging classes, the vice-principal told Smurf. Unfortunately, after catching her daughter skinny-dipping with Baz, the erstwhile Janine instead lied that Julia had been kicked out along with her violent brother. Vile. And I know that the show has always played incestuous undertones with Smurf and her boys, but didn’t it strike you as exceptionally pointed, the way that she let apparent jealousy of Baz’s interest in Julia motivate her cruelty? In flashbacks to 1992 — the year that gave episode No. 1 its title — Baz’s harebrained scheme to steal computers from the high school that twins Pope and Julia attended resulted in the sibs getting busted (and Andrew nearly bashing in a janitor’s head with his skateboard). Afterwards, Pope was expelled.

We know how Gia abandoned them during Season 5 and Cody boys didn't forget what she did to them, so it was time for some payback.
Meanwhile, one of the fans noted that Gia was no longer an ally of the Codys and her purpose no longer served the Cody Family, so they decided to do such a drastic thing. Pope lets Gia know that he is ready to face consequences and ready to take down anyone who comes in front of him. Fans said that Gia should have never been disloyal to the Codys because they come up for anyone who abandoned them in their tough times. Even though Gia threatened Andrew with facing the consequences, fans loved what they saw and how the Cody Boys came together to burn Gia’s shop to the ground. Gia wants the Cody Boys to get her out of the equation so that her (Gia) business could flourish. Look, lady, they get their grudge-holding from their matriarch. A few moments later, they finally get in and start taking up some really expensive things from the showroom before setting it on fire. They come up with a plan that J would use rockets that are used during celebrations and burst them while the others will do their work. They were in no mood to hear Gia’s excuses for how it was necessary for her to do that and left her. The bursting of those rockets will help them in suppressing the voice of that machine. In the premiere episode of Season 6, we see Gia returning to the Codys for a job and telling them that a new girl in town is eating her business up by doing more sales than her. J still feels that Gia shouldn't be here and should go away.

The Codys are back with Animal Kingdom's final season, which promises more thrilling heists and facing the consequences of their actions.
With season six already introducing a few new faces to be wary of, and the Codys' list of enemies is evergrowing, only time will tell who can actually be trusted. What stands out in both “1992” and “Rise,” isn’t the heists or the character work, but Animal Kingdom’s use of the flashback sequences. Unfortunately, not everything is smooth sailing for the Codys. Unable to find support in his family for his desire to keep his sobriety, Craig finds an unlikely ally in a stranger that wanders into his gym. The value of this heist isn’t in the jaw-dropping twist, but in the unity it demonstrates amongst the boys. Of Animal Kindom’s two premiere episodes, “Rise” is certainly the stronger of the two.
