Tyler Sanders, who starred on 'Just Add Magic: Mystery City' and guested on '9-1-1: Lone Star,' died Thursday at his home Los Angeles home. He was 18.

That led to a starring role in the 2020 spinoff series Just Add Magic: Mystery City, which focused on step-siblings Leo (Sanders) and Zoe (Jolie Hoang-Rappaport) and their neighbor Ish (Jenna Qureshi). Sanders’ Leo became the new protector of the magic cookbook, unlocking centuries-old mystery that takes them on an historical adventure through the city streets in a race to find a secret recipe. Sanders was in several short films and the played Young Jake Otto in an episode of AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead before appearing as Leo in Amazon’s Just Add Magic in 2019. “He comes from a wonderful family, and we ask that you respect their privacy at this time.”

The series was nominated for two Daytime Emmys in 2021, one for Outstanding Writing Team for a kids show, and the other for Sanders, for Outstanding Performance.

In 2019, Sanders guest-starred in the final episode of the children’s fantasy series “Just Add Magic.” The series, based on the 2010 book by Cindy Callaghan, revolved around three friends who discover a mysterious cookbook filled with recipes for food with magical properties. For his role as Leo, Sanders received a nomination for best principal performance in a children’s program at the Daytime Emmy Awards. Sanders started acting at 10 years old, starring in several short films.
