2022 NHL Draft's Top 10 American Prospects (The Hockey Writers)

With the 2022 NHL Entry Draft rapidly approaching, here is a look at the Top-10 American prospects available for selection.

He scored 34 goals and 65 points in 54 games at the USDP, then added 19 goals and 28 points in 22 USHL games. He will be covering the Seattle Kraken, and is a co-host of “What’s Kraken” for THW. Sean gained experience in writing for television, print and radio while studying journalism at Quinnipiac University and being an active member in the student media organizations there. To further emphasize that he has a great shot, he scored eight goals and nine points in six U18 Worlds games as captain; though he added 27 penalty minutes (PIMs). He’ll be at the University of Michigan for the 2022-23 season. He scored 70 points in 56 USDP games, and 35 in 24 games in the USHL for the squad. He has a heavy shot and strong playmaking ability, with a dash (or more) of creativity that makes him even more dynamic. He’ll get a shot at working on his offensive game at the collegiate level with the University of Minnesota for the 2022-23 season. While he isn’t the fastest, he brings a physical presence and active stick that further indicate that he leans toward the defensive aspect of his two-way game. He’s committed to the University of Minnesota-Duluth for the 2022-23 season. He then added eight points, all assists, at the 2022 U18 Worlds. He’ll play at Boston University starting in the 2023-24 season. At the moment, he’s more a scorer than a playmaker, but with as good a shot as he possesses, NHL teams will likely take that tradeoff. He scored 26 goals and 55 points in 54 games before contributing a lone goal in two playoff games. The 2022 NHL Entry Draft will feature some American prospects who could become difference-makers for some NHL teams in need.

2022 NHL Draft: Owen Beck does the little things well to help teams ... (Habs Eyes on the Prize)

Like so many first-year eligible players coming out of Ontario, Owen Beck doesn't have much of a track record. The 68 games he played this season were the ...

The biggest knock on Beck when it comes to his lower rankings is simply his production and his offensive upside. One of the most intriguing parts of his game is in the faceoff circle. He’s not going to crush guys in open ice, but he’s going to try and take the puck from you. Scouts rave about his hockey sense and it is the main reason he is being talked about as a potential first-round pick. His smarts don’t only apply to the ice as he was also the OHL’s Scholastic Player of the Year. This came after he was a point-per-game player at the U15 and U16 levels.

NHL Draft eligible players ranked by best puck skills, top skaters and ... (The Athletic)

Which 2022 NHL Draft prospects are the best skaters, have the best puck skills, hockey sense, shot, and are the most physically dominant?

Gauthier emerged this season as a top goal-scoring option too, being the trigger man for Cooley’s playmaking on the U.S. NTDP. It’s rare for several defensemen to appear on a best-shot list, but Havelid and Salomonsson’s point shots were legit threats in the Swedish junior circuit this season. I’m trying to describe players who are hard to play against, who will wear you down and project to win a lot of physical battles versus men. You see a lot of defensemen on this list who aren’t the biggest players like Nemec and Lindgren, but all can move the puck very well and provide offense. His U.S. NTDP teammate Casey is also a very clever puck-mover who makes a lot of plays, but Hutson is on a different level. - Logan Cooley, C, U.S. NTDP-USHL - Seamus Casey, RHD, U.S. NTDP-USHL He can make unique plays with the puck and do so at a high rate. - Logan Cooley, C, U.S. NTDP-USHL In fact, Cooley, Yurov, Ostlund and Slafkovsky can all make highly-skilled maneuvers at high speeds. Savoie jets around the ice and brings a ton of energy to shifts due to his speed and compete. - Logan Cooley, C, U.S. NTDP-USHL - Frank Nazar, C, U.S. NTDP-USHL

2022 NHL Draft Prospect Profile: Rieger Lorenz (bleachernation.com)

The 2022 NHL Draft is around the corner, so we're turning our attention to some players who might be of interest when the Chicago Blackhawks are on the.

This would be a draft and develop player for the Blackhawks, which is fine. I come back to the analysis Chris Peters provided earlier this summer. As was the case with Hughes, the first red flag we see here is the below average grade on his skating. He should be available in this range and it’s never a bad thing to bet on some skill if it’s available to you. “The top NHL prospect at Canada’s Jr. A level this year, Lorenz, who posted 96 points in a 74 combined regular season and playoff games in the AJHL and impressed as one of Team Canada’s lone bright spots at U18 worlds (where they outscored the opposition 6-0 with him on the ice at five-on-five). He’s a driven, puck-protection player who wins lanes in possession, forechecks to get it back when he doesn’t have it, gets to high-danger areas (either in control with his soft hands or off the puck to play to the front of the net), and then can finish plays when he’s there with a hard and accurate shot. Development is going to be key to get value out of the 2022 NHL Draft.

Alex Sotek – 2022 NHL Draft Prospect Profile (Yardbarker)

Alex Sotek 2021-22 Team: HC Slovan Bratislava (Slovakia) Date of Birth: February 9, 2004 Place of Birth: Poprad, Slovakia Ht: 6-foot-0 Wt: 176 pounds ...

Well, there's a good a chance that's the case on Thursday. Not only because this is the "riskiest" of my three picks, but because this is the latest of all the MLB games on Thursday. Now I'm not so sure the Angels win on Thursday, but I expect them to be in it to the end. And we are working that way based on experience, based on résumé. We have been clear that this has been a laid-out plan of how we are going to evolve and who our quarterback is going to be for the 2022 season." Tyreek Hill’s controversial podcast comments caught the attention of his former quarterback in Kansas City. Hill sounded off on the Chiefs in the first episode of his podcast, “It Needed to Be Said.” Hill accused the Chiefs of not utilizing him properly and even made a surprising comparison between Patrick Mahomes and Tua Tagovailoa. Mahomes was asked about the comments Thursday, and he suggested that Hill was just trying to make sure his podcast was worth listening to. Here are the teams with the most targets of running backs in the slot or wide: Here are the teams with the fewest targets of running backs in non-RB positions: Some of the most creative coaches in the NFL are on the "fewest" list, so it's important to not conflate moving a running back around the formation with "innovation" or "unpredictability." The 49ers' slash player happens to be listed as a receiver, for example, while the Falcons' version was listed at running back. I expect this game to be the tightest of my three, but I still like the Angels to win this one, nonetheless, lose by no more than a run. Draymond Green UNDER 20.5 Points, Rebounds and Assists (+100) I’ve taken and hit Draymond Green’s UNDER points, rebounds and assists in each of the last two games of this series. The positive of the situation, however, is that despite being 18, he was making a good impression to be consistently called up back to the Slovakian top division and even dressed in nine playoff games for HC Slovan Bratislava. Rudolph is only in the mix as a reward for four years of coffee and donut runs for the quarterback room. There is also the fact that when he was finally given a chance in the Slovakian top division, he was given under six minutes a game, according to the game sheets available. Sotek has a lot of skill and potential; the question is can he excel against older competition? When the puck is on his stick, he has shown an ability to slow down the game to find open teammates while also demonstrating a willingness to drive the net to create a scoring opportunity. Alex Sotek is a skilled winger known for his speed and ability to read the play.

They say it takes a village, and the St. Cloud State incoming freshman had his family there from the beginning.

"I can't thank him enough for that, and my mom as well driving me to 7:45 a.m. practices when I'm 8, when I'm 9, when I'm 10. The old saying goes that it takes a village to raise a child. My grandparents, my friends, my family can come out and watch me play probably as much as they want." This past year, Ingram moved away from home for the first time as he joined the Youngstown (Ohio) Phantoms in the USHL. During the 2021-22 campaign, he put up 27 goals and 29 assists in 56 games played. "Growing up in Manitoba you always have a backyard rink," Ingram said. "He started playing hockey before me," Ingram said.

NHL Officially Announces Salary Cap, Salary Floor For 2022-23 ... (prohockeyrumors.com)

Two effectively retired players have been traded so far this offseason, and the reason for those deals has been simple: the salary cap.

The Sabres and other teams now have certainty on the league’s cap floor, and it’s possible that we see more trades like the recent Ben Bishop deal as rebuilding clubs look to reach the cap floor with as much efficiency and as little real cash paid as possible. Because the NHL and NHLPA have collectively bargained a 50-50 split in terms of the league’s hockey-related revenue, a portion of player salaries are held in escrow and potentially surrendered to the league in order to ensure the integrity of the 50-50 split. While the importance of effectively managing the salary cap is ever increasing, the cap itself is not.

NHL salary cap officially at $82.5M for 2022-23 season (NHL)

As expected, the NHL salary cap ceiling will be at $82.5 million for the 2022-23 season. The floor, meanwhile, is at $61M.

- The Bruins ($2.34M), Panthers ($3.074M), Flyers ($5.12M), and Sharks ($5.667M) rank among other teams with less than $6M in estimated space. Naturally, situations can vary based on who teams want to re-sign, and if they may try to trade out of pricey contracts. To little surprise, the Ducks, Sabres, Red Wings, and Coyotes stand out as NHL teams with massive salary cap space.
