Hailey Bieber's Rhode Skincare Brand Is Finally Here & I Have ... (StyleCaster)

This doesn't seem like a random beauty brand Bieber just decided to put her name on. Rhode is a part of her. (It's also her middle name.)

As a woman in my 30s, I all of a sudden have acne-prone skin and hydration is the hardest part of my routine. There’s not a lot on the market for this price and these ingredients. Finally, there’s the last product in the launch and the most, well, boring. When it comes to healthy skin, it’s all about protecting your moisture barrier and not breaking it down with a high percentage of actives and acids and exfoliators. It’s time to get to the goods. The brand is focusing on “restoring and nourishing the skin barrier” a.k.a. healthy skin that glows.

I Tried Every Product in Hailey Bieber's Skin-Care Line, RHODE (NewBeauty Magazine)

The internet has been buzzing ever since Hailey Bieber first teased her very own skin-care line in 2019. A few years and countless makeup-free selfies later ...

Designed to “comfort, soothe, and restore the skin barrier,” this cream is described as having a rich, velvety consistency, but offers a surprisingly lightweight and whipped finish. It’s no wonder why this one is pegged as “Hailey’s signature dewy glow in a bottle” and the secret to “instantly yummy, radiant skin.” (If you were to choose one product to try from the line, let it be this one.) Peptide Glazing Fluid ($29): a water-light gel-meets-serum designed to deliver “dewy hydration” via a blend of niacinamide, peptides, hyaluronic acid and marula oil.

Hailey Bieber fills us in on her long-awaited skincare line, which includes the Peptide Glazing Fluid, Barrier Restore Cream, and Peptide Lip Treatment.

“I want to take the consumer feedback and really listen, understand how it was received, and apply it to the brand going forward.” But she says, “I don’t believe in oversaturating the market. New launches will happen “every few months, probably.” But don’t hold her to that: “I plan on being extremely transparent with our consumers. “Eventually, I would love to see it [in other retailers]. And then potentially, do our own brick-and-mortar, which would be amazing.” “I always talk about how it’s like the world of Rhode and everyone is welcome, and I want anyone and everyone to feel included,” she says. “I’m the type of person where, when it comes to developing these products, I will take feedback on the chin and apply it in a good way,” she says, adding, “I mean, sometimes I kick myself, like, I should have thought of that.” But she’s ready for what consumers—and the Internet—may have to say. “One really good moisturizer, one really good hydration serum, one really good lip product.” As one might expect from a supermodel, she likens the philosophy to how she dresses. “I really wanted it to feel like it’s as inclusive as I possibly could make it,” she says. “I tried to make it clear, I don’t think I invented that [term] or created this catchphrase in any way, shape, or form,” she tells BAZAAR.com. “I think that is a known thing in skin care.” Still, she’s fully leaning into the glossy aesthetic with Rhode. “I don’t want to go to bed without looking glazed, and when I think glazed, I just think of a glazed doughnut. “It’s not as thin as a serum, and it’s also not a moisturizer. But even if you have oily, acne-prone skin, hydration is a step that you shouldn’t skip.” The minimalist packaging is designed to feel gender neutral as well. But I want [the products] to work really well.”

What does it take to sell a skin-care brand at this moment of peak saturation? Is it a celebrity face or the aspirational girl-next-door type?

The Barrier Restore Cream is another easy-going formula—a moisturizer for the people, its name a sign that derm lingo has reached the skin-savvy masses. I think it just takes dedication to keeping up with it,” Bieber says, adding that the fluid is her stealth beach secret. “I don’t think it takes a ton to maintain healthy skin. “I just want to look like I’m just drenched before I go to sleep at night. Rhode plants its stake in this well-watered landscape, with three everyday products designed to offer a cocooning kind of moisture, from gym to plane to bathroom cabinet—which Bieber happens to share with her pop-star husband, Justin. I am reminded of Rhode’s pre-launch homepage image, which shows the model cheekily posed with a glazed donut—internetspeak for that kind of glassine complexion.

It's easy to tell from these products alone that Bieber has a simple, no-frills approach to skin care. The first products Hailey Bieber is launching with Rhode on June 15 definitely fall under that category. Products we call "boring" are the ones we feel most confident putting on our faces — ones without harsh synthetic fragrances, unnecessary shimmers, or any other bells and whistles that might do skin more harm than good.

Hailey Bieber's Rhode Skin Is Finally Here, And We tried It—Honest ... (Glamour)

Hailey Bieber has been teasing her beauty brand Rhode Skin for months, and it's finally here. We interviewed the model, and put the whole line to the test.

“I’m somebody who’s on the move all the time, so if I had to pin it down, what would be the three things I absolutely need on a flight?” she says. That one perfect moisturizer you keep going back to and reaching for because it’s tried and true, and a great formula, and it’s doing exactly what you need it to do.” “I wanted it to be just go-to essentials,” she tells Glamour. “I also have this ethos of making ‘one of everything really good,’ and where I get that thought from is the way that I curate and edit my wardrobe as well—that one perfect pair of jeans you keep reaching for, that one perfect T-shirt you keep going back to because of the fit.

Hailey Bieber's debut skincare brand, Rhode, launches June 15 with a curated, affordable trio of products geared towards protecting the skin's barrier: "I ...

I look back at when I was 16, 17, even 20 and I used to love darker eye makeup and heavier contouring. She was always very big on moisturizing and sunscreen — the way she has protected her skin from the sun for the last 20 years has been very diligent. It's been such a nice journey of kind of just doing less and learning that less is more. I wanted it to be accessible and attainable for everyone." And I feel like I'm in it with them. I think it's really cool and really amazing. [But] what always works for me [now] is being consistent with hydration, trying not to dehydrate or strip my skin, keeping my skin barrier healthy and protected, which is what Rhode's whole first drop is based on. So I wanted it to be great for anti-aging but also hydration and just keeping the lips super protected and moisturized. Here's just what I use for mine. I can't even believe that people want to look at what I'm doing and that they're inspired by it. But the 25-year-old multi-hyphenate supermodel and tastemaker, who has captivated Gen Z on TikTok with her dewy "glazed-donut" complexion and candor, has put in the work. Bieber's road to Rhode — her hotly anticipated foray into the skincare space — has been a long one.

Hailey Bieber Launches Rhode—And It's Not Your Average ... (Forbes)

The supermodel took a deep dive into the skincare world before building her brand from the bottom up.

“I fought to have these products be as efficacious and solid as they could be and fought for them to be that way for the price point,” she says. “I wanted this to feel clean, have a sense of sportiness and feel more gender neutral, like it would work in anyone's bathroom,” Bieber says. Having one of everything really good is a concept that I stick to in the way that I dress, like a great leather jacket, a great coat, a great pair of jeans. I want to do my best to perpetuate that and not be part of the pettiness and drama. “Without my team I would not be able to be launching a brand. Early in the pandemic, Bieber used TikTok to take a deep dive into skincare and had conversations with people in the space. I want people to be able to relate to me, although I know I live a life that can be extremely not relatable. “It opened up this space in this time for me to pursue something in skincare, which is something I had wanted to do for a long time,” Bieber says. “I always wanted to start my own brand in general; I chose to go with skincare first because I reached a point where I had been modeling for a long time,” she says. And then the idea of when you're out with your girlfriends, and you're in the bathroom, and you're talking about the ex-boyfriend you saw and your plan of action.” Bieber has a rotating roster of guests come into her bathroom and do an informal interview, playing games and chatting. I came to this idea of making very luxurious products and solid formulas that you could get for an affordable price, and also that was aesthetically pleasing and fun.” After Ratner asked her to cameo in a show he was producing and “she crushed it,” as he puts it, they knew they needed to do more together.
