Why did the Bruins fire Bruce Cassidy? No one really knows. There are plenty of “I heards” and “People told me's” about him losing the locker room, players ...
A big thank you to Dan for the quality insight. For the bloggers and fans, Cassidy is great with the media — honest quotes, very candid, very personable. However, as mentioned above, some swear that the players hated Cassidy, mostly because he was (to oversimplify it) too mean or too hard on players. The Bruins rarely beat themselves under Cassidy (though that started to slip last year, to be fair). The universal reaction was a mixture of shock and anger. What can we expect from the Golden Knights with Cassidy behind the bench?

Rask, or any of the other six goaltenders that played for the Bruins the past five years, never got that many games again. Cassidy never had a points percentage below .652 in his six seasons with the Boston Bruins. But the talent is in place to be better. Far more often they were near the top of the NHL. No club gave up fewer goals from when he took over the Bruins to when he was fired. Pete DeBoer, the team’s last coach, had a 98-50-12 record (.650 points percentage) that was good for eighth-best in the NHL in that span.

We'll get to the hockey stuff in time, but first, let's learn about the man himself, new Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy.
Really enjoyed my relationship with him and will always support the Bruins, but he was a good friend and somebody I had a really good relationship with. Belichick is a regular at Bruins games and waved the banner before a Stanley Cup Final game in 2019. As a coach, he’s definitely interested in stats and trends. His father, Leonard, coached him in baseball when he played and now he’s the 1st base coach for his son, Cole’s team. It was at that tournament NHL scouts really noticed him for the first time and it kicked off his playing, and ultimately coaching, career. Now, let’s get to the lesser-known stuff.

Bruce Cassidy has been hired to coach the Vegas Golden Knights a week after being fired by the Boston Bruins.
Nevertheless, in control of its destiny with five games left in the season, Vegas lost three straight shootouts down the stretch to fall out of contention. He was fired on June 6, a month after the Bruins lost a seven-game first-round series to Carolina. “It’s been impressive to watch the city embrace the Golden Knights from afar, and my family and I look forward to becoming a part of that.”
