Warriors vs. Celtics: Stephen Curry's magic is back as he delivers a ... (CBSSports.com)

I don't know where Stephen Curry's 43-point, 10-rebound performance in Golden State's heart-attack Game 4 victory ranks among the all-time Finals games.

He's already become the third point guard in history to post 40 points and 10 rebounds in a Finals game, joining Magic Johnson and Jerry West. It's hard to see the Warriors winning this series if Draymond Green at a bare minimum, doesn't start playing significantly better moving forward. This is an all-time great Boston defense that is sending the sink at Curry. He's had to go almost entirely to pick-and-roll and DHO because of Boston's off-ball switching, and he's throwing in one video-game dagger after another with multiple elite defenders draped all over him. He's already the only player in history to make at least five 3-pointers in four straight Finals games. This is a three-game series now, and those three games are going to be a war. Literally, the only advantage the Warriors have in this series is Curry, who has embraced that burden and on Friday lifted his team to a victory that at various points seemed almost impossible. But when every bucket feels like life or death in the NBA Finals? That's laughable how easy he made that look. This isn't just the best Finals performance of Curry's career, it's his best postseason performance period. But I've seen a lot, and what Curry just did to the Boston Celtics is somewhere pretty high up on the list. Curry scored 47 points in the 2019 Game 3 loss to Toronto, which had damn near as great a defense as these Celtics. In that game, without Thompson and Kevin Durant active, the Warriors were forced to start Shaun Livingston and an all-but-washed-up DeMarcus Cousins while playing Quinn Cook and Alfonzo McKinnie over 44 minutes. And again, that's not a knock on Curry's playoff resume, which is littered with gems. Curry's averaging just under 27 points per game in his Finals career. Let's get the basic info out of the way: Warriors 107, Celtics 97.

Warriors vs. Celtics - Game Recap - June 10, 2022 - ESPN (ESPN)

Get a recap of the Golden State Warriors vs. Boston Celtics basketball game.

Williams was listed as questionable coming into the game with the knee injury that kept him out at the end of the regular season and the start of the playoffs. “This is a tough series for him to score because of Boston’s size and athleticism, but he’s still impacting the game at a huge level.” Curry scored 14 points in the quarter, making four 3-pointers. Curry’s foot was an issue coming into the night after Boston’s Al Horford landed on it late in Game 3. The amped-up crowd spent much of the game booing Green, chanting an obscenity at him that is usually reserved for Bucky Dent, and jeering his many misses. Curry was more demonstrative than usual, raising his arms after failing to get a foul call, interacting with the sold-out TD Garden crowd and flexing to celebrate a big Warriors basket. “The things he does, we kind of take for granted at times, to go out there and put us on his back. “I felt like we just had to let everybody know that we were here tonight,” Curry said. Marcus Smart, who scored 18 points, hit a 3-pointer to give the Celtics a 94-90 lead with just over five minutes remaining. Andrew Wiggins had 17 points and 16 boards for the Warriors, who have won at least one road game for an NBA-record 27 consecutive playoff series since 2013. It was the second-most points he's scored in the NBA Finals. “We had to do it the difficult way,” said Celtics coach Ime Udoka, whose team is 7-0 after losses in the 2022 postseason.

NBA Finals Game 5: Steph Curry scoring, Draymond Green ... (Sporting News)

The Warriors managed to tie the NBA Finals with the Celtics 2-2 with their Game 4 win, but what are the keys to gaining an advantage back in San Francisco ...

Boston must continue to protect the ball for the remainder of this series as they did in Game 3. But with the series now tied 2-2 and the Warriors once again holding homecourt advantage, will Tatum be able to assert himself on this series as a superstar should? This was a departure from Game 1 in which Green seemed like he was trying to shoot his way out of the slump. In Game 2 they had 18 turnovers which led to 33 Warriors' points. In the first four games, he's averaging 22.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 7.7 assists. I sound like a broken record, but when the Celtics take care of the ball, they usually win games. They protected the ball much better in Game 3 turning it over just 12 times. Green has made more headlines this season for his post-game comments and podcast vocation. He finished with 43 points (7-of-14 from beyond the arc), 10 rebounds and four assists. Curry outscored the rest of the Warriors' starters 43-39. At some points during Game 4 it appeared like he was straight up scared to shoot the ball. As we mentioned in the intro, he almost single-handedly willed his team to that Game 4 win, and he will again be leading the charge in Game 5.

Game 5 Preview: Warriors vs. Celtics - 6/13/22 (Warriors.com)

The NBA Finals return to Chase Center for a pivotal Game 5 matchup between the Warriors and Celtics.

Marcus Smart, Derrick White and Al Horford also have had their moments offensively for the Celtics in the Finals, who as a team are shooting 49 percent in their wins and 39 percent in their losses. He’s averaging 34.3 points while shooting over 49 percent (both overall and on 3-pointers), and he’s made no fewer than five threes in any game in these Finals. Should he keep up at this pace, this will be Curry’s highest scoring performance in his NBA Finals career, and the third highest scoring postseason series overall. He’s averaging 3.0 blocks per game and has the second best average plus-minus rating (+5.0) among players who play at least 15 minutes a game in this series, trailing only Looney. The Celtics have been the best road team during this postseason, and they’ll need that to ring true at least one more time to keep their Championship hopes alive. AST: Tatum (6.2) Wiggins has been dealt the tough task of defending Boston’s All-NBA star Jayson Tatum. And just as he did against Luka Doncic in the Western Conference Finals, Wiggins is making Tatum work for everything he gets in The Finals. Tatum is averaging 22.3 points while shooting 34.1 percent from the field, down from the 27.0 points on 44.6 percent shooting he had through the first three rounds of the postseason. In fact, the Warriors have outscored the Celtics by a single point (422-421) through the first four games. Curry made seven threes in the game and Andrew Wiggins had 17 points and a career-high 16 rebounds in the win, which tied the series up at 2-2. AST: Green (6.2) Stephen Curry had 43 points and the Warriors ended a tightly contested game with a 17-3 run to win Game 4, 107-97, in Boston on Friday night. The Warriors have won the third quarter in each of the first four games of the series and are a cumulative plus-49 in that period for the series, but Boston rode dominant fourth quarters to each of their wins in Games 1 and 3. AST: 27.2 (1st) The Dubs have gone 10-1 at home this postseason, and with three games at most left in the series, the Warriors can and will use any edge they can with each team two wins away from an NBA Championship. If Monday’s Game 5 plays out anything like the first four games, it will be decided in the second half, as the team who has won the second half has won each of the first four games in the series.
