Chytil suffered an upper-body injury, according to the Rangers, but Gallant said he should be fine. The Rangers also lost Filip Chytil, in the second period, when the Czech center absorbed a hard hit from Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman and headed straight for the locker room. Goodrow’s injury sidelined him for 11 games spanning Rounds 1 and 2.

"But certainly would have liked to have won one here." Supposed to be able to hold serve," forward Chris Kreider said. And we want to show we can beat the best," he said. We want to play these games." "They better be calm, but they better go out and play harder. Center Barclay Goodrow, who blocked a shot with a foot in Game 3, managed to play in Game 4. Nikita Kucherov scored on a breakaway at 13:07 of the second period, and Steven Stamkos all but put the game away at 4:56 of the third period for the 3-0 lead. We're in the Eastern Conference finals playing a really good team," Rangers defenseman Jacob Trouba said. We're pretty good in our building; they're pretty good in their building," Rangers coach Gerard Gallant said. Defenseman Zach Bogosian carried the puck deep into the Rangers' zone and cut in front of the net. The Lightning found their game at home, frustrating the Rangers' top scorers. "I'm hoping it's going to be a homer series.

Mishkin's Extra Shift: Lightning 4, Rangers 1 - Game 4 (Official site of the Tampa Bay Lightning)

Radio broadcaster Dave Mishkin recaps Tampa Bay's Game 4 victory over the Rangers.

In the closing minutes and with the Rangers on a six-on-five, Vasilevskiy made two more saves and the Lightning blocked three shots. Just as the Rangers did at MSG in Games One and Two, the Lightning held serve at home. Andrei Vasilevskiy was tested more in the third than in either of the first two frames, but was up to the challenge. Even with more limited possession time, the Lightning continued to create looks of their own and cashed in on one of them. The third period was filled with whistles and stoppages, so there wasn't as much flow to the game as there had been in the opening 40 minutes. Compared to Game Three, a contest in which the Lightning outshot the Rangers, 52-30, and held an 86-51 advantage in attempts, New York owned more possession in Game Four. But the Lightning delivered a top-notch defensive performance.

I like to be physical, to be intense in that part of hockey. "I kind of figured that you're going to get hit, take some bumps and bruises along the way," Lindgren said. "You've got a lot of guys battling in different ways, some more visible than others, but he shows up to work every single day and it makes you proud to be a teammate with someone like that." "He plays every game like it's his last and I'm sure these playoffs are right up his alley." "That's kind of the style I like. "You do whatever you can to get back out there," Lindgren said Saturday, one day before a 3-2 loss in Game 3.

#SportsReport: Tampa Bay Lightning shut down New York Rangers ... (WAMC)

In the NHL, the Tampa Bay Lightning shut down the New York Rangers 4-1 and evening the NHL's Eastern Conference final at two games apiece.

Votto hit a three-run homer in the first inning, and Brandon Drury and Matt Reynolds added two-run drives within the first three innings for a 9-0 lead. Webb is expected to be available in the bullpen for Tuesday night’s game against the Oakland Athletics. Taylor Walls hit a three-run homer with two outs in the 10th inning and the Tampa Bay Rays beat the St. Louis Cardinals 4-2. After finishing with losing records in Maddon’s first two seasons, the Angels were off to a strong 27-17 start to this season before their current losing streak began. Astros pitcher Héctor Neris was suspended four games and Houston manager Dusty Baker was banned one game by Major League Baseball after both were ejected from a game against Seattle in which Neris plunked one hitter and nearly hit another in the head. Milwaukee held a 2-1 lead in the ninth with its All-Star closer on the mound. Anthony Rizzo hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning to crack open a close game. Kyle Wright recovered from a rough first inning to allow two runs in eight innings as the Braves extended their season-best winning streak to six games. Rookie Spencer Torkelson drove in the first run with a double. Palat, Pat Maroon and Steven Stamkos also scored for the Lightning, who have rebounded from losing the first two games of the series on the road to keep their bid to become the first team in nearly 40 years to win three consecutive Stanley Cup titles alive. Justin Verlander struck out a season-high 12 in seven sparkling innings, Yordan Alvarez hit a two-run homer and the Houston Astros beat the Seattle Mariners 4-1. Kucherov took a pass from Ondrej Palat in the middle of the ice and skated in on goaltender Igor Shesterkin to give the two-time defending Stanley Cup champions a two-goal lead just over 13 minutes into the second period.

Rangers Need to Channel Do-or-Die Energy as Series Shifts Back ... (The Hockey News)

In the two losses to Tampa Bay, the offense came from the big guns of Artemi Panarin, Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider. The kid line that had done so much ...

So while the Lightning may have the overall playoff experience and the knowledge of how to close out a series -- especially with a clutch goalie like Andrei Vasilevskiy -- the Rangers have the relevant experience of coming out ahead with their backs against the wall. The Rangers have been more efficient in the scoring department, and their goaltending has been splendid, but this isn't a Tampa team you want to welcome into the fray. Thankfully for the Rangers, they've got two more games back home if the series goes the distance. Win two and you're playing for the Stanley Cup playoffs. We're talking about two games, but the team's offense has quieted down in a hurry, and we don't know when -- or if -- Dylan Strome will return after a strange-looking incident in Game 3. The same goes to prized trade deadline acquisition Andrew Copp, and Frank Vatrano has just one assist to show for.
