New Jersey Devils: P.K. Subban Deservingly Wins King Clancy ... (Pucks and Pitchforks)

New Jersey Devils defenseman P.K. Subban wins the King Clancy Memorial Trophy. He very much deserves to win the award this season.

It would be hard to think they bring him back after all that, but would it be the worst thing? We’d love to have him back, but if this is the last thing he does as a member of this organization, it’s a fitting end. Subban is someone who’s worked hard to get the reputation he has, and that’s why he deserves to be the first player in New Jersey Devils history to win the King Clancy Memorial Trophy. However, his reputation was completely changed during his time with the Devils. Honestly, Subban didn’t deserve the reputation he was given, but the truth always seem to find the light both good and bad. It’s likely this was the last time that we will see Subban in a New Jersey Devils uniform. He doesn’t do it for the cameras or to get some clout within an organization, Subban does it because he genuinely wants to do good.

Somppi has spent the last four seasons in Tampa Bay’s farm system but never received a recall to the NHL. In 50 games this season with AHL Syracuse, he had 23 points. In the last CBA, a provision was put in that says the rule does not apply if the compensation in each year is uniform or if the salary increases each year. The NHL award being revealed on Tuesday was the King Clancy Trophy which is given annually “to the player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community”. It was announced that Devils defenseman P.K. Subban is this year’s winner.
