Edmonton is inserting one of its top prospects in hopes of avoiding a sweep Monday night.

It's not ideal for his first showing to come in an elimination game in the playoffs and it's not clear how Oilers coach Jay Woodcroft will use the young player. But Holloway will be given the opportunity tonight to play on one of the biggest stages in hockey. The native of Calgary, who was listed as the Oilers' top prospect in Scott Wheeler's prospect pool rankings for The Athletic, brings a strong, two-way game to the rink. That season, the Badgers were one of the highest-ranked teams in the country. He was named to the All-Big Ten First Team. The talented forward's debut may be too little, too late for an Oilers' offense that has managed just two goals in the past two games against the Avalanche. But Edmonton needs to find a way to survive Game 4 without two of its top-six forwards, and Holloway may be an answer for them.
