'No reason to panic' for Golden State Warriors ahead of NBA Finals ... (CNN)

"We'll come in and watch the film ... and see where we can get better. In the US, the Finals are available to watch on ABC or ESPN3. Alternatively, in the US and around the world you can watch the games live on NBA League Pass. It's one game, you move onto the next one ... We've been in this position before and we've won series where we've lost the first game." I like our chances still, and we'll go home and we'll digest what happened. The surprise win in Game 1, the Celtics' first NBA Finals appearance since 2010, included a 17-0 run in the fourth quarter -- the second-largest scoring run in the final quarter of a Finals game over the last 50 seasons, according to ESPN. "And we all have been through situations like this.

NBA finals Game 2: Golden State Warriors v Boston Celtics – live! (The Guardian)

Minute-by-minute report: Steph Curry and Co head to the east coast looking to level the series. Join Hunter Felt for the latest news.

A 15-year NBA veteran making his first finals appearance a day before his 36th birthday, Horford top-scored for the Celtics with 26 points, including a career-high six three-pointers. The Celtics did indeed have to play flawless defense, holding the most potent offense in the Western Conference to a mere 16 points, but Tatum didn’t score a single point from there on out. Both the Celtics and Warriors wore orange shirts before the game with “End Gun Violence” messages. The Celtics have, in a way, done their job in guaranteeing a road split, so the pressure’s all on the Warriors. Smart then adds to the Celtics early lead with a jumper. Nope, I have no real basketball argument to back that statement up other than “vibes” (and the fact that the Celtics have had a problem with, uh, not riding momentum after big wins this postseason). This just feels like a long, chaotic series so why not guess on whatever result ruins as many narratives as possible. Tatum then scores his first points of the game. Payton II misses the first free throw and the second free throw. The Warriors, meanwhile, take a timeout to plan what they’ll do with the ball on their next possession. Tatum hits a three-pointer that the Warriors would love to answer: And Draymond does! Curry misses his first free throw, Golden State leaving a lot of points on the board early, but makes the second. Looney strips Tatum but Curry ends up being the one who misses the first three-pointer.

Boston Celtics Vs. Golden State Warriors Game 2 Betting Odds ... (Forbes)

NBA odds are offering Golden State at -4.5, with the Game 2 total set at 215 points, but can the Boston Celtics upset the odds and return home with a 2-0 ...

The league’s highest player will need to earn his paycheck in a ‘must win’ situation tonight. What Boston managed to do in the 4th, Steph succeeded at in the game’s opening quarter. If Jayson can find his rhythm early on, the Warriors defense will be limited in their ability to contain both him and Jaylen Brown knowing that Boston has proven deep firepower. The small forward was 3-of-17 on the night (17.6%), but managed to record 13 assist in the effort. Though not evident by the final score, Golden State appeared to have the game under control, or at least within reach for the majority of the series opener. NBA odds are offering Golden State at -4.5, with the Game 2 total set at 214.5 points.

Golden State Warriors, Boston Celtics don 'End Gun Violence' shirts ... (ESPN)

Steve Kerr said the idea behind the shirts is to make people aware of how to contribute to gun safety and gun violence prevention groups.

"We play a game that if you win, you're elated and you feel great about it," Udoka said on Sunday. "You lose, you're devastated for the moment but it's not life and death, you still go on. "It continues to happen. And so people got to vote, and if you feel strongly about saving lives and possibly even someone in your own family, get out and vote. "There are things we can do that would not violate people's Second Amendment rights, but would save lives. Warriors coach Steve Kerr and Celtics coach Ime Udoka both wore the shirts to their pregame news conferences on Sunday night. And there are ways to limit it.

It's one thing to make a ton of 3s -- the Celtics hit seven in a row to start the fourth -- and another to start expecting it. By disrupting the cadence of the game, the man whose first name means "patience" did his part to keep the floor from becoming scattered and allowing the Warriors back into it. Still, it's counterintuitive to stop the flow of a massive run -- twice! "He carries that sense of toughness with him and does instill that into the group every day." Udoka's experience -- to a degree -- negates the inexperience of his players. The question was asked, in just about every form possible, and the Celtics players responded by shrugging and repeating some versions of "basketball is basketball."

Golden State coach Steve Kerr, Boston coach Ime Udoka walked into their pregame press conference wearing an “End Gun Violence” T-shirt.

Udoka agreed, saying both teams "are all on the same page" and that "awareness and changes need to be made." They are devastated and their families are devastated and we kind of go on with our normal life and business. "I'm so tired of getting up here and offering condolences to the devastated families that are out there. This not the first time the Celtics have sent a message of support through their attire. “We feel very strongly as a league that it's time for people to take notice and to take part in what should be a nationwide effort to limit the gun violence that's out there,” Kerr said. It continues to happen."

Warriors rout Celtics to pull even in NBA Finals (TSN)

The Warriors took control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring the Celtics 35-14. Game 3 is scheduled for Wednesday in Boston. More to come.

Celtics: The Celtics fell to 8-3 on the road in these playoffs. That’s the most in a single playoff year ever, topping the 90 such quarters in the 2017 playoffs. Those Bulls and Rockets went on to win the championship, and 31 of the previous 36 teams to open with 2-0 leads ended up celebrating a title. Boston entered the night 4-0 in the Warriors’ 3-year-old home, the only team to have won its first four games in the arena. Boston was 4 for 15 in the quarter, got outscored 21-6 on 3s and let the Warriors turn five turnovers into 11 points. Poole finished with 17 points for the Warriors, who outscored Boston 35-14 in the third quarter to turn a two-point halftime lead into a 23-point edge.

Warriors vs. Celtics score: Stephen Curry leads Golden State to ... (CBSSports.com)

What the Golden State Warriors did against the Boston Celtics in Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Sunday night was the definition of "response.

The Warriors scored 33 points off of turnovers in Game 2, 18 more than the Celtics. They won the game by 19 points. Klay Thompson shot 4-of-19 from the field in Game 2. Their championship hopes rely on the best version of him showing up more often than the worst, but on a night-to-night basis, the Warriors don't seem to know which one they're going to get. Andrew Wiggins has had a slow start to the Finals. Right now, Curry is generating almost everything on offense for Golden State. Thompson isn't exactly a high-usage ball-handler, but the offense runs much more smoothly when the Warriors can at least rely on him to make open shots and generate some of his own looks inside of the arc. Not coincidentally, the Celtics committed 18 turnovers in Game 2, five more than they did in Game 1. Thompson shot below 40 percent from the field in 15 of his 32 regular-season games. The problem with extended Payton minutes is that Boston has little interest in guarding him on the perimeter. The moment he decided to try to play drop-coverage against Stephen Curry should have been the moment Ime Udoka decided to banish him for the rest of the series. The Celtics managed to get outscored by 12 points in the seven competitive minutes he played in this game. The game was extremely close through the first 24 minutes, but in the third quarter, the Warriors kicked it up a notch and gained some serious separation. Horford and Smart combined for 44 points in Game 1. Jayson Tatum paced the Celtics with 28 points and six rebounds, but his production wasn't enough as only two other Celtics players scored in double figures.

Steph Curry Reveals How Draymond Green Bounced Back in Game 2 (Sports Illustrated)

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green had a better effort in Game 2 of the NBA Finals.

Having dominated Game 2, winning in convincing fashion, there will certainly be an increased level of confidence that Golden State will be able to take on the road with them. And that gives us a lot of life, so I know he took Game 1 personally in terms of getting back to his standard, and it was great to see." Green, who struggled mightily in Game 1, turned in a better performance in the blowout win, and Steph was happy to see it.

Warriors suffocating defense carries them to Game 2 win over Celtics (Golden State of Mind)

The Warriors evened the NBA Finals at 1, setting up a huge Game 3 in Boston on Wednesday.

After shooting 8-for-15 from the field in the first quarter, Brown and Tatum were just 5-for-21 shooting over the remainder of the game. While Curry returned with eight minutes remaining in the half (suggesting the Warriors were planning to play him 40 minutes in the game), Poole and Thompson killed the Dubs momentum. Tatum and Brown’s shotmaking cooled, and players like Marcus Smart, Al Horford, and Derrick White did not generate any of the scoring punch they delivered in Game 1. Boston had their two best players, Jaylen Brown and Tatum, making their shots in the first half. While the final score was lopsided, the Warriors did not dominate from the jump. Now, as both teams head to Boston for Games 3 and 4, the Dubs will look to regain home-court advantage by winning at least one of their next two games.
