Il détient par ailleurs le plus grand nombre de victoires consécutives à Paris. Il a ainsi remporté 39 matchs consécutifs entre 2010 et 2014. Depuis 2005, Rafael Nadal n’a laissé à ses adversaires que des miettes. Sur la terre battue de Roland-Garros, battre l’Espagnol s’avère une tâche particulière ardue, sinon impossible. Aucun autre tennisman ne peut se targuer d’avoir remporté autant de titres à Roland-Garros. Un record qui n’est pas près de tomber : le deuxième de ce classement, Björn Borg (6 titres) a mis un terme à sa carrière avant même que l’Espagnol ne commence la sienne. Sur ses 21 titres en Grand Chelem (un record également), celui que l’on surnomme le « taureau de Manacor » compte 13 trophées à Roland-Garros. Un quatorzième n’a jamais semblé aussi proche, alors qu’il avait déclaré que cette année pourrait être sa dernière participation au tournoi. Entre Rafael Nadal et la terre battue parisienne, l’histoire d’amour a commencé en 2005, alors qu’il n’avait que 18 ans.
