But simply adhering to the core beliefs won’t unite federal Conservatives until we can agree on how to achieve a national coalition of people who share these beliefs. For Conservatives, what’s so divisive about all three aforementioned issues is that some approaches could backfire spectacularly and result in the CPC becoming virtually unelectable on a national scale. Every political leader of every party compromises one of their core policies at some point or another, but within a movement that is increasingly dominated by single-issue voters, this is being seen as unforgivable among many Conservative supporters. These are the party’s core beliefs, and there is no evidence to suggest that any leader, leadership candidate, Conservative member of Parliament or party member disagrees with them.
