Panthers vs. Lightning: Expect Tampa Bay to Stay Hot at Home (The Action Network)

Carol Schram breaks down the matchup between the Florida Panthers and the Tampa Bay Lightning. She also offers a best bet for Game 3.

Then, with their backs against the wall, the Panthers eked out a 6-5 overtime road win in Game 3, before ultimately falling in six games. And while Tampa Bay has been slightly weaker than Florida at 5-on-5 so far in the series, Andrei Vasilevskiy is rounding into playoff form. That makes the home-ice champs a solid value bet. Starting with Corey Perry’s stitches to the face during warmups, Game 2 featured a revolving door of dressing-room visits in a contest where Tampa Bay blocked 24 shots compared to Florida’s 14. And just like this year, the Lightning opened the series with a pair of road wins. As banged up as they are right now, they also know how valuable it would be to finish this series quickly and enjoy some much-needed rest and recovery time. That could amplify further now that the Lightning are back on home ice. The Panthers are averaging just 2.75 goals per game, which is well short of their 4.11 goals per game from the regular season. He has allowed just one goal in each of his past three games and is now up to a .915 save percentage and 6.0 goals saved above expected in the postseason. Tampa Bay has gone 4-for-9 with the man advantage over two games. At this time of year, most players are dealing with bumps and bruises — or worse. It’s unfortunate because the Panthers aren’t playing badly at 5-on-5.

Panthers vs. Lightning Game 4 Preview: Back Vasilevskiy, Tampa to ... (The Action Network)

Jacob McKenna previews Game 4 between the Florida Panthers and the Tampa Bay Lighting. He breaks down the matchup and shares a best bet.

Colton leads this team in playoff goals with five and Stamkos, while not as active as he usually is, scored two goals in Game 3. He has simply shut down any chances his opponents have of scoring and has clearly been the Tampa’s best player in this series. Kucherov leads the Lightning in postseason points with 11, collecting three goals and eight assists across nine games. What’s crazy is that the Panthers are getting off plenty of shots, averaging 35 shots on goal per game, and rank second in goals scored in 5-on-5 situations this postseason. We saw glimpses of that in Round 1 as well, but Round 2 has been a completely different story. As previously mentioned, Florida has scored just three goals in this series, but has surrendered 11 to the Lightning. The Panthers lost Game 1 by a score of 4-1, Game 2 by a score of 2-1 and Game 3 by a score of 5-1.
