Oilers Game tonight

Live blog: Edmonton Oilers vs Calgary Flames, Game 2 (Edmonton Journal)

Zach Hyman and Leon Draisaitl each score breakaway goals to give the Oilers a 5-3 win over the Calgary Flames and tie the series 1-1.

“Just a bunch of things to be honest. Maybe this is all catching up to him? The Oilers have appreciated his videos and have invited him to many of their games and practices. He again had the team’s top prospect forward Dylan Holloway out for the pre-game skate, as he did for Game 1. “You’re not asking questions off a morning (afternoon?) skate are you?” Woodcroft, joked to a question about who is playing where. Off the pre-game skate, it’s hard to know what the lines are. “He’s healthy and available,” said Woodcroft, who had Kulak with Cody Ceci at times in Game 1. The Oilers will start the second period on the powerplay after Flames defenceman Nikita Zadorov was called for hooking Evander Kane. Three minutes later, Brett Ritchie was left all alone in front of the Oilers goal and he tucks it home past goaltender Mike Smith to make it 2-0 for the Flames. After getting outshot 11-5 to start the period, the Oilers have since come back to lead the period in shots 13-12. Duncan Keith picked up assists on both second period goals to give him a three-point night (1G, 2A) so far. Puck drop is scheduled for just after 8:30 p.m. (these late games are going to be the death of me). The Oilers look to rebound from the 9-6 shellacking they took in Game 1 Wednesday. Lord knows they don’t want to find themselves down 2-0 in the series…

Game Notes R2G2: Oilers Need a Good Start (Oilers Nation)

— Meanwhile, the Oilers top-six players were hit 10 times with McDavid, Hyman and Draisaitl being on the receiving end of eight. Calgary made sure the Oilers' ...

He struggled in games four and five, and came out for the last three. To a man, we have to be ready to compete from the drop of the puck. — The terrible start and consistent porous defensive play by Edmonton overshadowed three great offensive plays by McDavid that led to his goal, Evan Bouchard’s, and Kailer Yamamoto’s. If Edmonton can find their defensive game and a higher level of competitiveness, then the main advantage becomes McDavid’s brilliance. He was top-10 among D-men in hits in the regular season, but his injury has limited his ability to engage physically. However, the Flames have only scored first in three of their eight playoff games. Many players talked about the importance of each player being ready to do their job. They played off them too much and were far too soft on the Flames skilled players. Calgary made sure the Oilers’ best offensive players were being pressured and hit. Those are the most skilled Flames forwards and the Oilers essentially never touched them. They allowed two goals in the first 51 seconds, a new Stanley Cup playoff record, they were outshot 48-28 and outscored 9-6. Work is the key word. From the opening faceoff, the Oilers were overwhelmed by the Calgary Flames in game one.

Flames Playoff Game Day: Game 2 of the Battle of Alberta (8:30pm ... (Flames Nation)

The two top teams in Canada face off in a playoff rematch on Friday night after an extremely eventufl Game 1. The Calgary Flames (5-3; 1st place, ...

The Oilers are hoping to bounce back from a game where not a ton went right for them, aside from capitalizing on some Flames blunders that led to all six goals. Nurse didn’t skate a single second on the power play, where he averaged 1:09 per game this season. The Oilers shuffled their lines a bunch for Game 2, including probably going with 12 forwards and six defenders and changing every single forward line. There was good and bad for the Flames in Game 1. (Since there’s no salary cap to circumvent in the playoffs, the level of scrutiny for emergency recalls likely isn’t terribly onerous for teams.) Can both teams tidy it up in two of the three zones on the ice?

Kane promises Oilers will 'push back a little harder' against Flames ... (Sportsnet.ca)

When a game tightens up the way both teams are promising for Game 2 Friday night, the physical play tends to ramp up as well. Plus, what does Darryl Sutter ...

We know he doesn’t like us and that’s just what the game brings, but we’re all obviously thinking of him and his family. “Stuff like that is very close to me, dealing with stuff in Calgary with kids in similar situations,” said Tkachuk, who has seen plenty about how much Stelter means to the Oilers and their fans. He’s a true warrior and we’re following him every step while he’s at the games. We did a good job of sticking up for one each other for one another, (but) I think that’s the best way to handle that.” History says he’d battle Lucic, if push came to shove. I think we can be a little bit more physical tonight, push back a little harder.

“People really identify with their sports teams,” she said. Seeing Connor McDavid score a goal and add three assists? They won’t say no to scoring nine goals again. It was thrilling. It was high-scoring. Now people are showing up earlier than before and staying later. The Oilers have appreciated his videos and have invited him to many of their games and practices. Just like with the Red Lot, the Game 3 viewing party will require a ticket to get in. He lectured reporters earlier this week: “Don’t ask about injuries or who’s playing anymore.” When will he be back? Edmonton Vs Calgary Flames- Game 2 Pre-Game (Oil On Whyte)

The Edmonton Oilers look to bounce back from a lackluster effort on Wednesday as they are back in the Saddledome to take on the Calgary Flames.

When they have a solid start they win the game. I have wrote about the Edmonton Oilers needing a good start for 8 games and this will now be the 9th time. There wasn’t many players that played a solid game Wednesday. So there is lots to be said for switching up the line-up. The Oilers need to play a full 60 minutes if they want to win. In game 1 they played a bad game, so for them to be tied 6-6 at one point in the 3rd period is a positive. On Wednesday night the Edmonton Oilers had another slow start in the game.
