Margot Robbie could lead the new 'Pirates of the Caribbean' film (Far Out Magazine)

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer gives an overview on the future of the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' franchise, including a script starring Margot Robbie.

A script was announced in June 2020 that was supposed to star Margot Robbie, although reports have been pencil thin recently, partially in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, and partially due to the producer’s desire to write a completely different kind of script. Although the producer didn’t say it out loud, he might be developing a script starring Depp, should the trial come to a more positive conclusion. Invariably, he was asked about the Pirates of The Caribbean spin-off starring Margot Robbie. “Yes. We’re talking to Margot Robbie,” Bruckheimer replied.

A few fans chimed in with agreement to the suggestion as well! at the rope drop (@ropdropchris) suggested that Robbie could have an animatronic that would replace Red, the character that was introduced to combat the negative imagery of women being auctioned off. The source claims: “Margot wants her character in PotC film to be LGBT.” This would not be a massive departure for the series, as it has always featured characters of all kinds throughout the films so far. Because of this obsessive love that so many have for Depp, it is easy to understand why fans decided to boycott the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise when Disney gave him the boot. Many have wondered what Disney will do with Sparrow in their Parks if Depp does lose the case, and some are starting to find places where his “replacement” could go. Depp kicked off the role of Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl (2003) and carried out the role for the following five films.
