New Pro earbuds and upcoming Pixel 7 phones, tablet and software shown off during virtual event.
The new Google Wallet will be able to collect payment cards, loyalty cards, transport tickets and boarding cards in one place, with various kinds of identification such as student IDs and driving licences in the US later this year. Google also announced its intention to return to making Android tablets in 2023 as companions for its Pixel phones. Google unveiled its upcoming top Pixel 7 and 7 Pro smartphones for later this year. It will be supported with software updates for at least five years, making it one of the longest-lasting Android phones. Google has announced a series of new products as it looks to compete with Apple on tablets and smartwatches. Google showed off its first own-brand WearOS smartwatch, called the Pixel Watch, which will ship in the autumn.
From new developer tools to new Pixel hardware, Google is expected to announce a lot of products and services during the opening keynote.
Android 13 has been in beta for a couple of months now, but Google spent some time going through some of the features users can expect to see when Android 13 launches later this year. Osterloh also took some time to debut a Pixel Tablet that will debut in 2023. Spatial Audio will come through a software update to the Pixel Buds Pro later this year. Announcements around Pixel hardware kicked off with the Pixel phone, highlighting what the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro brought to the Android-makers lineup. Android 13 is currently in beta for Pixel devices, but more hardware partners will soon give users access to the beta. In order to make Google Assistant more accessible, you can use a new feature that's rolling out starting today called Look and Talk. You simply need to look at the Nest Hub Max and start talking. You'll see that Google Assistant is waiting for you to ask a question after looking at the screen. Android will let you share your ID using NFC or a QR Code. The Wallet update will roll out in the coming weeks. For example, Google has started to use the scale in Google Photos and is adding the ability to sort Search results by skin tone. Google has been able to auto-generate chapters for YouTube videos, but through improvements to the service, Google is planning to automatically add chapter markers to 80 million videos by the end of the year. During the event, we expect to hear from Google about new tools for developers, improvements included in Android 13, and maybe some new hardware. This is especially helpful for those who often receive meeting notes or minutes and don't want to wade through all of the fluff.
Google's annual developer conference kicks off today, and we're following all the news, from Android updates to hardware reveals.
For starters, what will adding the Tensor chip to the Pixel 6a enable the budget phone to do? The more rumors you hear about a product, the closer you are to a launch, at least in my experience. If you want a stealth candidate for a Google product to make news at I/O, look no further than Maps, one of the software giant’s more popular programs. TechDroider has a quick summary on Twitter of what to expect at Google I/O 2022 today, and it lines up with what we've heard. Bear in mind that even if we just get a Pixel Watch teaser during the Google I/O keynote, there may be more than meets the eye to Google's smartwatch plans. Assuming the images are genuine, it looks to be an attractively curved smartwatch with a near-bezel-less design and a couple of hardware buttons on the side. We've moved on to improvements with Google Search. Following up on last month's introduction of multisearch — you can take a photo and ask a question at the same time — Google plans to add a Multisearch Near Me improvement. But no, in that any Android 13 or Google Assistant talk during Google I/O might reveal more about the features coming to future phones. In a demo, a Google executive requested a song from "ummmmm.... Florence and the something?" The Google App is also going to add a one-tap feature that brings up more context about the website. You won't see this next product until 2023, but Google is showing off a Pixel tablet that's designed as a companion for the Pixel phone. The Google Pixel 6a was confirmed as were the Pixel Buds Pro, new wireless headphones that will arrive in July at the same time as Google's budget phone.

Pichai says that Google is now using AI to help with translation. For example, you can look at a live 3D view of London, see the the weather and traffic. Google Meet will see improved audio and video quality thanks to Project Starline, first announced at Google I/O 2021. Well, Google is adding a "near me" function to help you take a photo and see if that item is available nearby. The goal is to improve it over time with the rest of the industry. Smarter search, Pixel Buds Pro, Pixel Watch and a preview of the Pixel 7 joined Google's parade of announcements at its annual developer conference.
We got a preview of the Watch, which will have an improved Wear OS interface and lots of curvy glass. These are the first Pixel Buds incorporating active noise canceling and Google's technologies for better isolation and better transparency. Search will be able to handle a query combining a photo with a text question and integrate "near me" into those searches. This will come to Google Chat as well, helping users get a highlight of a long chat conversation. A new My Ad Center in the Google app lets you manage what ads you'd like to see, and there'll be an easier way to remove personal information from Google search results. Google I/O, the company's annual conference for developers, kicked off for 2022 with the usual keynote -- in person for the first time in three years -- hosted by CEO Sundar Pichai. During the keynote Google treated us to updates about the next version of its operating system, Android 13, and the company launched the Pixel 6A phone, Pixel Watch and Pixel Buds Pro earbuds.
Google announced its new mid-tier phone, the Pixel 6A, which will cost $449 when it's available for preorder on July 21st. The company seems to be flipping its ...
Google announced that its auto-generated translations are coming to YouTube on mobile, that you’ll be able to just look at your Nest Hub Max and start talking to the assistant, and that your phone will be able to look at a shelf full of chocolate bars and pick one out for you based on what you’re looking for. Google went over its plans for Android 13, and the next version of its mobile OS seems to be going further with the ideas introduced in Android 12. Google is bringing back its Wallet app as a place to hold not just your payment cards, but your passes, rewards program memberships, vaccination records, and more. It also said the company is focused on implementing additional security features for its products by default, in addition to the concept of “protected computing” to do more processing on-device rather than sending data elsewhere. There are pretty much no details on whether this will be a product people can buy, but it’s certainly interesting to see more hints of Google’s plan for joining companies like Snap and Meta in the race to put AR on your face. Yes, Google teased the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro with a few renders, showing that the phones will have some slightly different camera cutouts and back panel. The only real hardware detail we have about Google’s upcoming device is that it’ll have a Tensor chip in it. Not just anyone will be able to try out LaMDA 2, but eventually, Google hopes to bring the tech to search and its other products (though it wants to do so very slowly). The next generation of Pixel phones is on the horizon. Like Google’s current Pixels, the 7 and 7 Pro will have two and three cameras, respectively. The company seems to be flipping its usual script for this phone — previous A models have featured a camera comparable to the one found on Google’s flagship Pixels but had weaker processors. Google announced its new mid-tier phone, the Pixel 6A, which will cost $449 when it’s available for preorder on July 21st.
Will we get a look at Android 13, the Pixel 6A and the rumored Pixel Watch?

Using Google's Flutter technology, the game blurs the boundaries between native smartphone apps and web apps.
On phones, you tap the left and right sides of the screen. On a desktop browser, you use right and left arrows to operate the flippers. It's easy to craft an app that runs on either of the two smartphone families, the web, Windows and MacOS, DeRemer said.

The talk included some cool stats on ChromeOS growth and adoption as well as highlighting some of the new devices on the way this year. For this post, however, ...
We’ve hoped for this for a long time, and it looks like there will be a central ChromeOS app hub that pulls in applications from all of the available sources and surfaces them to the user in a clean and simple way. We’ve included the video here in this post, but in the event that you can’t watch it right away, we wanted to quickly summarize some of the new features highlighted that will be on the way to a Chromebook near you very soon. It will be interesting to see how this plays with messaging apps installed on a Chromebook and could provide a more seamless connection between your desktop and mobile setups.
The annual developer conference didn't only include consumer announcements, but it also focused on tools for, well, developers.
Android Jetpack is a resource of tools and APIs for developers to use to improve their apps. There are also new features coming to Android for Cars along with Android TV OS, but outside of a small tease, Google has only said that we can learn more by tuning into the respective developer sessions on May 12. Jetpack Compose Beta 1.2 includes several new APIs and tools for developers to work use within their apps. Other changes in Canary include a new google Play SDK Index to view dependency insights, Firebase Crashlytics in Android Studio, and a resizable Android Emulator. Android Studio Dolphin Beta and Electric Eel Canary are the two different builds that not only have creative names but their own share of new features. There are also new APIs for downloadable fonts, drag-and-drop for sharing data between apps, and better tools for benchmarking apps.
