Schwartzman's loss to Dimitrov in Madrid was very disappointing, but he should bounce back and play a competitive match here.
With that said, you should expect Schwartzman to come back readyto go when he takes on Kecmanovic. The 29-year-old has either won or taken a set in 17 of his 21 clay-court matches since the start of the 2022 season, and you should count on him to win at least one here. Itโs not often that you donโt see Schwartzman at least making his matches competitive, but Dimitrov earned a 6-0, 6-3 win in just an hour and 10 minutes. Both players will be hoping to go a bit further in Rome this week, and they each have the talent to do soโbut one will come away even more disappointed than last week.
John Isner and Diego Schwartzman scored a comeback victory in a Match Tie-break on Monday at the 2022 Internazionali BNL d'Italia in Rome.
That match was one of five doubles contests decided in a Match Tie-break on a busy Monday in Rome. Among the other winners were Thanasi Kokkinakis and Frances Tiafoe, Grigor Dimitrov and Hurkacz, and eighth seeds Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies of Germany. Schwartzman is now 3-3 on the year in doubles action, including wins in Indian Wells and Monte Carlo. The first-time pairing scored a 5-7, 6-3, 10-1 win over Santiago Gonzalez and Andres Molteni to open with a win in Rome. After dropping an opening set that featured five breaks of serve, Isner and Schwartzman dominated set two and the Match Tie-break to advance.
