Darcy Kuemper eye is OK, may start Game 4 (Colorado Hockey Now)

Good news, from Jared Bednar just now: The scary right eye injury that forced Darcy Kuemper to leave Game 3 yesterday in Nashville turned out to be not a ...

I think the Avs will win if Frankie is in net, as the Predators just aren’t a very good team right now. You never want to give the opposing team new life in a playoff series, but I would be OK if Kuemper got a night off. Miska also is with the team, though – and the Colorado Eagles are in the midst of a playoff series of their own.

Are the Avalanche preparing for life without Darcy Kuemper? (104.3 The Fan)

A Sunday morning roster move provides a hint as to what Colorado plans to do in Game 4, and perhaps beyond, with their injured goalie.

The goaltender’s availability for Game 4, however, remained in doubt. On an otherwise glorious day, when the Avalanche won 7-3 and took a commanding 3-0 lead over the Predators in their best-of-seven, first-round series, Colorado had their first dose of postseason adversity come their way. He didn’t return, as backup Pavel Francouz played the rest of the way.

Predators news: Ryan Johansen responds to scary Darcy Kuemper ... (ClutchPoints)

Nashville Predators' Ryan Johansen had an emotional reaction after accidentally injuring Avalanche goalie Darcy Kuemper in Game 3.

He raised his stick in the air and accidentally caught Kemper inside his face mask. There didn’t appear to be any intent from Johansen to hit Kuemper inside the mask, and his words afterward all but confirm this incident was an unfortunate accident. Kuemper could be seen covering his face as he writhed on the ice, visibly in discomfort following the hit.

Avalanche Recall Justus Annunen (prohockeyrumors.com)

The Colorado Avalanche have announced that they have recalled goaltender Justus Annunen from their AHL affiliate, the Colorado Eagles.

He has a .893 save percentage in 48 games at the AHL level and has gotten into two NHL games this season, where he has a .863 mark. Annunen, 22, was the 64th overall pick in the 2018 draft and has been the team’s AHL starting goalie for most of this season. Although coach Jared Bednar said after the game that Kuemper was “doing better” and had a chance to play in game four, the recall of Annunen indicates that Kuemper is not 100% certain to return for tomorrow’s contest.

Kuemper Injured as Avalanche Take Commanding Series Lead (Puck Prose)

The Colorado Avalanche picked up a win in Game 3 to take a 3-0 series lead, but goaltender Darcy Kuemper was injured in the process.

In relief, Francouz stopped 18 of the 20 shots that he faced. For Colorado, the loss of its starting goaltender did not sink the team in Saturday’s game. The contact appeared to be completely incidental, but the toe of a stick managed to sneak through his mask.

Avalanche news: Darcy Kuemper gets positive update on nasty eye ... (ClutchPoints)

The Colorado Avalanche got a key update on the Darcy Kuemper eye injury following the incident with Predators' Ryan Johansen in Game 3.

With the high-octane offense of the Avalanche seemingly able to score at will against a Predators team that appears outmatched virtually across the ice, perhaps Bednar will keep Kuemper on the sideline for one more game, in hopes of clinching the series without rushing him back. After undergoing further evaluation on the eye injury, Bednar revealed that Kuemper’s eye is fine, and there’s a chance he’ll take the ice for Game 4. The Colorado Avalanche are looking to pull off the first-round series sweep of the Nashville Predators, and can do just that with a win on the road in Game 4.
