"It's going to be even more of a grind," Memphis' De'Anthony Melton said of the ongoing series. Morant also found time for eight rebounds, but it wasn't enough to avoid a second straight game in which the Warriors earned an advantage on the boards. "Lot of adversity, a lot of adrenaline and emotion. "We've been in a lot of different series that's taken a lot of twists and turns," Curry said. Brooks will sit out Game 3, when Golden State will attempt to shake off one of the worst 3-point shooting efforts in its postseason history. That's because Game 2 featured an ugly incident in the third minute when the Grizzlies' Dillon Brooks leveled Golden State's Gary Payton II from behind on a break-away attempt, sending the guard crashing to the court and fracturing his left elbow.

Otto Porter Jr. finding shot could be Warriors key vs. Grizzlies (NBC Sports Bay Area)

Kerr could just go back to his traditional lineup of center Kevon Looney being inserted back in to counter the Grizzlies' rebounding.

The other night I think he might have taken one three and maybe made one or two shots in the game and he was a plus-17. All season long, he has referred to Porter as the "Perfect Warrior" for all the little things he does that contribute to winning. He knows his player wants to see his shot swish through the nets, but also knows that isn't going to stop him from playing his game. In two games against the Grizzlies, he has gone 2-for-8 from the field and has missed both of his 3-pointers. Porter will continue to contribute to winning, and space the floor. He's sticking to his word that he won't let his shooting define him, good or bad. The Warriors went 5-10 in games Porter played after the All-Star break. His offensive rating fell to 113 and he had a true shooting percentage of 53.5. But unlocking one specific part of his game could give the Warriors a major edge: His shot. Through the Warriors' first seven playoff games, Porter is averaging 3.3 points per game while shooting 30 percent from the field and 13.3 percent from 3-point range. Kerr could just go back to his traditional lineup of center Kevon Looney being inserted back in to counter the Grizzlies' rebounding. He even played with the closing lineup in Game 5 of Golden State's win against the Denver Nuggets to send them home for good, playing almost the entire final frame.

Stephen A. Smith calls out Warriors' Klay Thompson (SFGate)

ESPN analyst says Golden State's sharpshooter needs to show up in Game 3 in San Francisco against the Memphis Grizzlies.

He put up 15 more in Game 1 against the Grizzlies (6-for-19 from the field, 3-for-10 from three), and had just 12 in the May 3 loss on 5-for-19 shooting, including a hard-to-watch 2-for-12 from distance. I think everybody feels good about where Klay is." "Defensively after dealing with those injuries these last couple of years his wheels just aren't the same defensively," Rose said. Klay Thompson is shooting 29 percent from the field and 22 percent from three point range. Klay Thompson is at 13.5 points. "If Klay Thompson doesn’t show up, that does not help the Golden State Warriors," Smith said.

The Ja Rules: What the Warriors should try to slow down Grizzlies ... (Sporting News)

Like the Jordan Rules of the 1980s, Ja Morant deserves his own set of defensive rules. The Warriors need to switch things up to advance in this series.

The Warriors have also destroyed Morant when he’s had to come up to help on ball screen action. The Warriors aren’t an isolation-heavy team, but they need to make Morant expend more energy. Gary Payton II is one of the best in the league at that type of backcourt pressure. They also haven’t pressured Morant at all in the backcourt as he's bringing the ball up. Daly would send two defenders at Jordan to get the ball out of his hands. When the Warriors run their dynamic three-guard lineup of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Poole, they need to force Morant onto one of those three and allow them to go at him. That action gave the Warriors a ton of trouble and also allowed Morant to get downhill. Wiggins buried him in the post late in the fourth quarter for an easy layup. Towards the end of the game, Jenkins also had his players feign screens to the right on three plays. But it would at least make him a little more uncomfortable to force him in his less-preferred direction, as the Bucks have done in their series with Jayson Tatum. But in Game 2, Morant mostly took breathers while Andrew Wiggins was stationed in the corner. The Warriors as a team haven’t made a good effort to try shading him right.

We have two NBA games on tap Saturday with both series knotted at one game apiece.

He has averaged 23.5 points since the all-star break and has surpassed 21.5 in four of the Warriors’ seven playoff games. Curry will draw most of the defensive focus. The Bucks may have home court, but without Middleton, expect them to struggle. The Canadian is also a huge impact on the defensive side of the ball. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown returned to form and combined for 59 points. They struggled mightily from beyond the arc Tuesday, going 7-for-34 from deep but should bounce back in style Saturday night.

NBA Playoff Pick 'Em: Oddsmakers overvaluing Warriors' star power ... (Sportsnet.ca)

The theme of the picks for Saturday night's games: When it comes to Warriors-Grizzlies and Celtics-Bucks, Max Sussman is trusting his gut.

I don’t think those adjustments come until Game 4, since the Warriors probably feel they should be up 2-0, so why change anything? And they need to attack him relentlessly when Memphis is on defence. For as long as Kerr resists those adjustments, the Grizzlies have a tactical advantage. The Dubs need to do whatever they can to get the ball out of Morant’s hands. The Warriors have also been loathe to hunt specific matchups, preferring to let their beautiful motion offence just run as it always does. You’d have to imagineAntetokounmpo has two transcendent games in him over the course of this series. From what I saw in Game 2, Steve Kerr and the Warriors staff need to make tactical adjustments on defence unless they want to see Super Saiyan Morant again. That, combined with Boston’s teamwide streakiness, just has me feeling like I can’t really use the previous game to inform too much about the next one. On Reddit, in my hoops group chats, to my girlfriend, who doesn’t care. After Milwaukee threw a haymaker in Game 1, Boston adjusted and answered, big-time. These teams are so tough, so defensively savvy and so evenly matched, I just think we’re going back and forth for seven games. The home team down 0-2 in a series is generally successful, and when you’re dealing with the top eight teams in the league, you should trust that.

Was Kings owner scouting Mike Brown at Warriors-Grizzlies game? (SFGate)

The Sacramento Kings are reportedly interested in both ESPN broadcaster Mark Jackson and Warriors coach Mike Brown for their head coaching vacancy.

Jackson, of course, is a broadcaster at ESPN. Ranadive wasn't in San Francisco to scout his color commentating chops, but he could have been in the building to grab a few minutes with Jackson afterwards. It's unclear if Brown would even take the Kings job, given how many coaches they've cycled through in recent years. What's more interesting about Ranadive's latest Dubs appearance is that the Kings currently don't have a head coach, and as it happens, two reported candidates for the job ( Mark Jackson and Mike Brown) were in the building on Saturday night.

Warriors offense carves up Grizzlies on way to 30-point win; Ja ... (NBC Sports)

The Golden State Warriors got into the paint and basically got any shot they wanted in Game 3, which led to a 30-point win against the Grizzlies.

Meanwhile, the hot shooting from the Grizzlies to open the game masked that they were not consistently getting good looks, they just made tough shots. The game looked different right after the opening tip, when the Grizzlies jumped out to a quick 10-point lead shooting 6-of-8 from 3. The result was 62 points in the paint, and the Warriors having a 76.7 true shooting percentage when both teams emptied their bench for garbage time. There was no report on the condition of Morant’s knee after the game, he will be evaluated more on Sunday, but he left the arena without crutches or an apparent brace, but walking with a limp. He limped off the court in the middle of the fourth quarter after tweaking his knee against a Warriors double-team. That sequence summed up the night: The Warriors got the shots they wanted against far too little defensive resistance.

If I'm being completely honest, even if Morant plays Game 5, I think the Dubs have momentum on their side now, and playing at home will get them over the line regardless. TV channel (U.S.) Morant's injury notwithstanding, the Grizzlies should be concerned about giving up 142 points on the road in a game where Curry only made two shots from beyond the arc. Morant injury intrigue, Klay being Klay, Kuminga's 1st start and more to know as the Warriors take a 2-1 series lead by blowing out the Grizzlies.

“As long as my shoulders are squared up to the rim, I can take a 1-footer, a 2-footer,” Thompson said. “They were throwing a lot of different bodies at him,” Jenkins said of Morant. “He’s got a lot that’s on his shoulders right now, and I think he’s rising to the occasion. “Klay has been in a little bit of a rush,” Kerr said before the game. The shot dropped into the basket after Thompson threw up a layup while falling down to the floor. “We did a pretty good job of stopping other guys,” Green said.
